At least once a week Tech makes me ROTFL when OP admits they have no tech experience, and a bunch of people respond with stuff like this.

So you put the gateway on bypass mode and use your own router?

It is called "IP Passthrough" in the settings, but yes. That is probably the best way to go about having full control of the LAN if you so desire.
The at&t gateways are pretty solid, though. They aren't cheap trash like ISP gateways of yesteryear. The main reasons to use your own equipment would be if you want UPnP for gaming systems and easy custom DNS management. You could still do custom DNS while using the at&t gateway but it gets a little complicated.

How is having IPv6 implemented going to improve the fiber service?
Greater address space and routing efficiency

There is a way to get rid of the router completely, but it is a hack and not approved by ATT. You do this by buying your own SFP+ module.
I have a 10Gb SFP on my router and would love to do this. I’m not sure how it would work though, because the fiber coming into my house doesn’t reach my network rack.

Facebook support. I just told them I had an offer from another isp and they offered $30 off per month for 999 months.

There is Facebook internet? I know Missouri is full of really good rural fiber plans for $30-40 but they’re like 200m which is still good.
Edit. Oops. What provider?
