The ONTs we are currently installing, Alcatel-Lecent 010G-A, do not have a battery backup. You can purchase a backup battery for your gateway for voip usage during power outages on the internet. We used to provide backup batteries with every voip install but stopped that a while back. It's pretty sad that we don't even have the ability to sell one to the customer as an option during installs.

Wouldn't you expect this to only take you about 16 seconds? Are you getting what you're? paying for?

I'm less than impressed with the WiFi speed. Getting 200 down from speed test app, but only like 20 from art speed test. I was expecting at least double that. Haven't done a hardware test.

When you start getting up to Gigabit speeds, you start seeing the internet for what it really is at the end of the day. The ability of the server you're getting information from and the amount of traffic between your connection and that server will affect speeds.

You still have have right at 1 gigabit/sec of bandwidth with a wired connection.

I can get 400 from my S8+, and I'm 20 feet from my router in another room. You have a hardware issue, like the dude that can only get right at 100 on his phone.

The WiFi router they provide is pretty good. I have a 2-story house, and I get good signal everywhere in it from the router. It even works on the street outside my house.

Im totally happy with my speed, it could be slow because of the back end not my end.

I know all this. People reading this post might jump out and spend an extra $30 per month (unsure of pricing as it isn't available for me) for a speed that they will only see when connecting to speedtest. For all practical purposes that 1Gbps will never be achieved or probably even be needed. Paying for 1Gbps then downloading a game at roughly 7%-8% of the advertised speed sounds like a rip off even if the bottleneck has nothing to do with my ISP.

Though if the price difference from 100mbps and 1000mbps were only a couple dollars, or if there are huge differences in data caps, it might be better to get the premium plan.

Sounds like you are totally happy with about 75Mbps because you downloaded that game closer to that speed even though you pay for 1Gbps. I understand that you cannot control the speed of the server you are connected to, but you can control your costs. Saving just $10 a month (I suspect you'd save much more) by downgrading to 100Mbps, which we've established as you being totally happy with, would get another $120 in your? pocket per year. Probably enough for 2 games?

Have you named your 2.4 and 5 GHz networks with different names?

You may be connecting to the 2.4 connection by accident. The first thing I always do is change the network names on all of the routers to differentiate the two. I don't like the router assigning my devices on its own. There are actually 4 networks in their Pace router. There are a regular 2.4 and 5 network, and there are 2.4 and 5 guest networks (I leave those turned off).

Their GUI software in the router kind of sucks, but I was able to fight it to get it to do what I wanted it to do. I changed the network names and passwords. I hate their supplied passwords.

Nevermind, you're getting 200 down. Change the names of the networks, and see if that helps. It should.

You can access the gateway at attlocal.net when you're connected to it.

This. i was paying like 70 a month for comcast 75mbps and a 1 tb datacap.Comcast wanted like an extra 50 a month for exceeding the data cap. I have a large family of streamers so i was in trouble. I got at&t 1 gbps for 80 a month and unlimited data usage. I didnt really switch because of the speed i switched so i wouldnt have to worry about the data usage. Of course having download speeds 6 or 7 times faster than 75mbps doesnt hurt

That was the reason why I switched.

i i was thinking this could be an issue, i just havent dove down into this yet. I will tonight and plug in a hardwire to see how fist it really is. Do you have your old router as an access point? Im planning on running a hardwire to my bedroom across the house so i can get true 4k streaming in the bedroom, so doing this i will just add my other nighthawk there for better coverage outside.

Have you seen reduced speeds in access points with this router. I hate that you have to use their supplied router. (I know you can just use it as a passthrough but i hear that reduced your speeds a great deal.
