I'm Instagram famous. Snowbird posted my shite eating grin and snowbeard

LINK

This morning after making my 1st lap off the tram. They opened up their hike-to terrain that wasn't open past few days. Local guy gave me some tips in line so I followed him out the door. He was 2nd up the hike. I was 5th. It was insane.

Bout to go get deep at the Basin! Hopefully the lines aren't horrendous. Leaving early to make lower lot.

It's snowy as frick in the Boat. Drive could be interesting, but snowfall could be record breaking.

It was deep yesterday! First three runs down Pali today were amazing when the sun came out.

Waiting on East Wall to open now. I'd lose my shite if I got another East Wall powder lap this season. Car line has been horrendous. I got a spot on the beach so I'm fine. Lift lines have been congested but moving pretty quick.

East Wall went off when they opened it. Never seen a line of people hiking up that. I passed about 10 people on the boot pack up the ridge. Get moving or get out the way!

Led a charge of a group of people down 2nd Notch which is the sketchiest entrance on the East Wall. Always fun on top of the Wall. Everyone's giving each other advice and telling them different lines and beta. 6 or 7 people watched me ski in 2nd Notch and joined in on the fun after me.

Probably my last resort day of the year, and second year in a row I've ended my last run with a mid-May top-to-bottom powder lap down East Wall. Spring time in the Rockies is hands down my favorite time of year. Can't be beat!

bamafan: I saw your Never Summer Wilderness pic. Holy shite, we're supposed to backpack that in less than 30 days...outlook not so good.

How's the Rawah Wilderness looking? We might go there instead. Keep livin' the dream

Outlook is looking good IMO. You sound prepared for snow encounters. Really warm weather last week has kicked alpine melting into next gear. By end of June, it'll be down to just the shady parts of the high alpine.

But don't let that fool ya, I'm still skiing. Day 117 and 118 this past weekend.

Saturday - Flat Tops Wilderness, Orno Peak - 12,133'. We had about 6 miles of walking in hiking boots with skis and ski boots on back, plus some skinning and boot pack up the face. But we summited! Second highest point in Flat Tops and my boss (in pic) can see it from his back porch so he's been wanting to ski it.

And then back to the Nokhu Crags on Sunday. We got redemption on Nokhuloir after bailing on it halfway up the boot pack last week. This place is amazing. Didn't see another soul while we were out there.

Narrowed down my season pass to PC or Brighton - opinions? Worried about crowds at PC since most of my skiing will be done on the weekends.

Don't feel like paying almost 2x as much for Alta or Snowbird

You're in SLC?

Brighton/Solitude all day if I was in your position. PC is Vail owned, so you can get the Epic and make some trips to Colorado, but if you just plan on staying local, I'd ski Brighton or Solitude. I've never ski'd Brighton, but I had an awesome, EMPTY leftover powder day two seasons ago at Solitude. Really cool terrain there.

Alta isn't a bad pass to buy if you ski, because it eliminates some of the crowds by not allowing snowboarding. I ski'd Snowbird last year for two days, and I don't think I could handle that place for a season. It has some of my favorite terrain. Super steep. But it is full of go-hard, charging skiers, so competition for the powder and turns is pretty intense.

I'd imagine a much mellower environment at Brighton or Solitude.

I got my ABasin mid-week pass in the mail today. $219 - a fricking steal.

I also bought a Silverton Unguided Pass for $149 for two weekends in March/April. Silverton's basically a lift-serviced backcountry resort. No grooming. One Lift. Hike-to/skin-to terrain. Even have heli drops.

Getting the Steamboat pass, since I live here. This year it includes Winter Park unlimited (super stoked about this), 3 days at Crested Butte, and 3 at Deer Valley. We'll have to make some turns in Utah if I make it out.

I went skiing this past weekend actually. Skyscraper Glacier outside Winter Park atop Rollins Pass. Trying to ski every month of the year. On a streak from last September. 122 days on skis since my 27th birthday (October 2nd).

I second Brighton. I loved that place. Much more mellow than Alta and snowbird. Big trees, tight, secluded runs. Just s beautiful piece of the mountain.

I'm not an expert, so I was going to stay away from Alta/Snowbird based on what I've heard. I was already leaning Brighton; I'm envisioning PC being much more crowded & I doubt I'd use any other resorts on the Epic Pass.

I can get a Brighton season pass for $650 which includes 2 days at each of Deer Valley & Solitude. That's probably the route I'll go.

Yeah, Brighton's your spot for sure. The Wasatch is such an incredible mountain range. I'm jealous you get to look at it all the time from SLC. I really wanna come ski the backcountry in Little and Big Cottonwood Canyon.

How much was that Steamboat pass? I bought the RMSP+ again this coming season and my son's pass was free. We did WP during his spring break back in March and had a great time. Our first time there and I really enjoyed how the mountain was layed out, will probably do it again next Spring Break. Planning to do Steamboat again as well the week before Christmas as we had a great time and hopefully they continue their trend of good early season snow.

What is a good price for lift tickets in Breckenridge and where would you suggest purchasing them? How far in advance? Going in February

How many days do you plan to ski? Buying in advance now and online is typically the best deal. Single day passes at the windows will be at least $150 a day. Google "epic pass" and view all the passes they have and one probably works for your trip.

Will have 4 full days there. Thinking 3 ski and 1 town day or ski all 4

Steamboat Pass is expensive. It's like $1300 or something. I get it discounted through my winter job. I'm hoping my summer job bonus will be a ski pass tho

Hopefully next year the Aspen/KSL super pass will be up and running. Competing with Epic.

I've been enjoying the shite out of hiking on the weekends. It's weird going from South LA (where there's next to nothing to see geographically) to SLC.
