Park City definitely fits your criteria. You get the added benefit of a short drive from the airport to town. You can do a fairly cheap group shuttle and use busses in town. We went last year with a group of 8 and didn't rent a car. Plus the ski area is so huge you have every terrain option you would want.
Maybe check out Heavenly on Tahoe. It has a casino so I'm just guessing it has a decent night life. Wanted to go last year on my epic pass but didn't make it.
Vail is nice but you'll have to pay a little more.

Are you that worried about partying? It's going to be about a 10-1 guy to girl ratio any resort town you go to. Go where the deep and steep shite is and forget about the night life

my man
I'll try to keep up with this thread and maybe we can meet up whenever you get something planned if it's in Colorado. I know some good people in every ski town in this state, and most are down with the get down

Storm Peak opening tomorrow! Top to bottom skiing at the Boat! Great news, plus we are gonna get hammered with more snow!
Sunshine Bowl expected to open early next week. Life is good. Snow is awesome. Skiing is fun.
It's dumping in town. Praise Ullr!

So we booked our flights this evening. We'll be in the Boat by 3pm on Thursday.
You want to guide us around the mountain bra? Skiing Fri, Sat, Sun fly out at 4 pm Sun
How's the Steamboat Grand? They have what looks like a nice little deal right now for 3 nights @ $150/night
ETA: And that weather report.....

I should have some time. Always down to show some people around.
Heard nothing but great things about the Grand. Right across from Gondi Square. Seems like a steal to me being that close.

The steamboat forecast keeps getting better and better. I hope you're shredding hard out there

Worked the AM shift this morning. That was tough to stare at the snow all morning.
Bout to go rip it up at 1. I have all PM shifts or days off until next Saturday so I'm stoked! Will be skiing every morning.

You down for Avy 1 this year? I'm ready to get my arse to steeper and more bad arse terrain in the backcountry, especially come spring
Posted on 12/9/16 at 2:15 pm to HippieTiger
Yeah. I'm definitely down. Looking at one in Steamboat with the Powdercats Jan 6th weekend. Looking into a lightweight tech setup now for some mountaineering come spring.
I'm content with some mellow below treeline skiing in the Boat during the middle of the ski season, but definitely interested in some long missions come spring and early summer.
I ski'd Peak 10, aka Fourth of July Bowl, at Breck on July 3rd. That got me hankering for some long approaches to ski some snowfields. Found some lightweight dynafit boots for cheap, now just need to get a lightweight ski setup.

Holy shite. What an afternoon. Ski'd out pow, but it was soft. It was a blast though.
Bare in spots. Deep as hell in others. It's only gonna get better!

Dumping snow in CO and UT

Could use some advice. Sometime in the next couple weeks (or maybe up to a month) I'd like to go skiing by myself because work is very flexible. Would like to do it as cheaply as possible using airline miles. Wife would not be coming so the room could be really cheap.
A few things to consider:
1) Since I'd like to fly, a huge plus would be close proximity to the airport so I could easily shuttle or taxi or whatever.
2) Would be okay with a reasonable shuttle each morning and afternoon
3) Been to Breck, Vail, and Big Sky before but am open to pretty much anything. I like having a go at the terrain parks if possible.
4) Wondering if there are particular dates around Christmas or New Year's that I should avoid flying. Should I try to return a few days before Christmas?
There's probably stuff I forgot to mention but hopefully I can get a few ideas to look into some more. Thanks!

What airline do you have miles with and where would you be flying from? I know american has had great award availability into Vail Eagle (EGE) from new orleans for early january
Posted on 12/11/16 at 5:46 pm to CuseTiger
Miles are with United and I can fly pretty much from anywhere in south Louisiana.
