I have stayed in the City probably 20+ times for work, but never for a special occasion. We are heading up for our anniversary and I am looking for hotels with great views in Manhattan (not Brooklyn). We don't really have a budget (subtle brag), so give me your best!
Thanks in advance and CHEERS MFERS!

If price is no object, I've always wanted to stay at the St. Regis. I've had drinks there, but never stayed. I love classic stately older hotels like that, though.
For "great views" you might also consider the Mandarin Oriental - another place, I've had drinks but never stayed.

Obviously, you stay at The Plaza and travel the city in a limo with a cheese pizza.

a lot of them on the park, but its really more about the room than the hotel. And you say budget is none, but you can stay in a $25k a night room. is that your budget?

+1 on the Mandarinn Oriental and the Ritz Carlto
Also JW Marriott/Essex House for the Central Park views

I stayed at the Carlisle several years ago. Really nice in a quiet part of the upper east side. Close to Central Park

I am sure that you knew 25k a night was not in my budget regardless of me saying I do not have one. Is this the forum for GME stock winners or something?

So whats your actual top of your budget? Again, you can stay at a "Best" hotel, but the rooms might have a shitty view or be tiny, even for $5-800 a night.

Ok, so we've established that you do have a budget. Why don't you just share that so people can try to assist rather than being an a-hole?

How about you not be a dickhead? If you don't have a recommendation, how about go frick off elsewhere?

Some good recs so far with the Mandarin being one of my favorites. The ONLY drag about the Mandarin is location over near Columbus Circle. But, the rooms, the views, and the bar up on the 16th floor are all awesome.
If okay with exchanging modern amenities for location, I’d suggest the Pierre on the east side of Central Park. Older hotel. But, the suites overlooking the park are really nice in an old school way. The St. Regis is nice too. But, you’re kind of tucked into an inner city block instead of right on the park. Obviously the St. Regis bar is legendary. But, anyone can grab a drink there.

It seemed pretty easy to discern you weren’t fishing around for $25k per night recs.

The Carlyle. Close to the park, well appointed rooms, excellent bar, close to the subway.
My favorite hotel in the city.

This. Seems pretty absurd to say best when we don't know if his budget is $500, $1000, $5000, $10,000/ night etc. The best is vastly different for all of those budgets.
I also agree that the best hotel and best room for a certain budget are not the same. The top room or top view in a certain hotel with a lower budget could easily be a better experience then a better hotel with a lower end room for that hotel.

The expensive chain hotels, like the Four Seasons, are good, but they work like a high end McDonalds. They deliver the same experience wherever you are.
The wine list is the same at every Four Seasons.
I think the coolest places to stay are the unique ones.
It’s not open yet, but the Aman in New York sounds cool. But that’s probably the opposite of what you’re looking for?

This isn't going to help you ... but two years ago we took a huge road trip up the east coast ... "we" being husband, six kids, and I. We had planned on camping in a few places, but it didn't work out a few times because of rain and car sickness.
ANYWAY ... we camped in NYC ... at Camp Gateway Brooklyn Tamarak and Goldenrod at the Floyd Bennet airfield.
It was a unique experience ... but my advice to you is FIND A HOTEL!!!

Some of those rooms at places in Soho, Lower East Side, Chelsea, Meat Packing District, etc., can have amazing views of the Midtown skyline if you get one high enough up and facing that way.
