Recently heard of this island (next to Aruba) and researching now for a possible family trip (wife and 2 kids). Would probably prefer a house on the beach vs a resort. Wondering a few things:

-How safe is Curacao ?
-Any particular areas to stay or avoid ?
-We typically like to snorkel, pool, hike and explore new places
-How is the food ?

We went 14 years ago, so probably much different. We stayed at Kura Hulanda near Westpunt. We visited a couple beaches after researching. Enjoyed the trip, it was a diver's island and we dont dive so we seemed out of place at the resort. But whatever, it was enjoyable. Nice thing was we went Labor Day weekend and it was not busy as it was not popular among Americans.

Curaçao has some of the bluest water I’ve ever seen and the shopping is awesome. The downtown area with all of the painted buildings is charming.

Beaches are smaller and rockier than Aruba. Water can get deep just a few yards out.

Only St. Thomas tops for me as far as my fave cruise stops. I love Curaçao.

There’s a couple of nice all inclusives and a lot if nice hotels/resorts.

Definitely give it a go.

My sister works for the state department there and her husband works for one of the alphabet agencies there as well. They love it, and say that it is very safe. I haven’t visited yet but they live in a touristy area.

Very safe and rent a car so you can move around the island. Alot of really good beaches with great snorkeling. Also food scene is top notch. Make a reservation at steak and ribs next to the queens bridge its a great spot to admire the beautiful downtown area. The dutch end of the island jan thiel is more upscale but you will have to deal with the traffic to get away and get to the downtown area or other beach spots around the island that are nicer and not as busy. I have been twice and love the island. One of the few islands I have been to and would have no issue moving to. Because of the refinery and the dutch it is built up nice but not over commercialized. You will love it there the snorkeling is awesome.

Viajondoconvero just went there you can watch on youtube with subtitles. Thank me
