No problem! Zarella is a good option, in general, but especially so for those that want thin crust and don't want to leave The Loop / River North. They also have a cocktail bar in there.

What’s everyone’s favorite Italian in the city? Level of dining doesn’t matter, just some good ole Italian

For those checking this thread and visiting Chicago in the future,
my great aunt lived to be 97 and her favorite Italian restaurant was Cucina Biagio. It was 5 minutes from her house in the Belmont Terrace / Irving Woods suburbs. She celebrated her birthday @ CB every year, and I've eaten there a half dozen times. If in the area, it's worth the dine in.

One of the bartenders at our favorite cocktail bar in Logan Square has a significant other that probably made your drinks at Arbella
It was a tallish guy medium build with a beanie on and forearm tattoos. He was friendly and gave good recommendations on the old fashioneds and comped 2 drinks for us cause he accidentally made extra. Lol

Staying a couple of blocks from the Willis Tower. Looking for a relatively casual place to get solo dinner on a Sunday night. Not pizza. Maybe ethnic that I can’t get in Birmingham? Nicer place with bar seating? I’m open to suggestions.

The Loop is not a good food neighborhood, by any stretch. For most food, and ethnic, you'll need to go into other neighborhoods. If you're willing, a few ideas are Demera (African), Lawrence Fish Market (Sushi), Triple Crown (Chinese dim dum), QXY (Chinese Dumplings), VAJRA (Indian), and Bundoo Khan (Indian / Pakistani). Otherwise, your options closer to The Loop are Minghin's South Loop location, Chengdu Bistro, Maharaj, or Qiao Lin.

Similar to food, The Loop is not really any sort of nightlife destination. If you need to stay in the area, though, Monk's and Industry Ales are good options for a beer.

Again, if you're willing to go into the neighborhoods (or even West Loop), I'd have a lot more recommendations for you.

To be completely honest, I can't remember the last time I voluntarily went to The Loop on a weekend, so my ideas for hanging at a bar is pretty limited In general, it's a very weekday 9-5 place.

Thanks. Spending Saturday and Sunday with a buddy and his wife before heading downtown Sunday evening for work. Just looking for somewhere convenient to get a good meal that night. Will report back if I find anything interesting.

Blackhawks with client on Monday so excited about that. Fly out on Tuesday.

What’s going on with the flu up there?

Vaccine levels are low and hospitalizations are up, but I don't think anything has been unexpected with the new strain. Everyone is always walking around sick this time of year

Had a nice meal at the bar at the Girl & Goat. Brisk walk there. Had to call an uber to hotel once I walked 10 mins without looking at a map 100% certain I was headed in the right direction (I was not). Often wrong, never in doubt.

Blackhawks tonight.

In the middle of, I believe, our 3rd rebuild since last making the playoffs

I had a partial season ticket plan for about 8 years from 2011-2018. Good times. Buddy and I used to tailgate and got to the know the parking guy so he'd give us a good spot. It didn't catch on but we had fun

Awesome Girl & The Goat was a West Loop pioneer in the 2010s, but has sort of fallen out of favor (relatively, of course) with WL's restaurant boom over the last half decade. However, my wife and I still find ourselves there every few months because it consistently delivers and service is fantastic.

Enjoy the Hawks game! Always a fun time.

Blackhawks looked awful. Berdard (sp?) was out with the flu I think. Connor McDavid in unreal. First time to see him skate in-person.

Fun time though. Headed to O’Hare.

I follow NHL and college from afar, but Bedard is fantastic - He's been dynamite so far this year. McDavid is wild. Saw him play last year @ Minnesota. I'm not too much of a hockey guy, but following college a bit more this year with Wisconsin playing so well.
