Domestic Airport Experiences 2022

Just wrote in to Delta complimenting them on their baggage service in Seattle and was curious if people had specific good or bad airport experiences in this weird post-covid environment. Feel free to post your experiences below so others on here can get a gauge of how busy, easy to navigate, crowded, etc other airports are
.
Here in SEA, past few trips I've taken and flown back on Delta my baggage/skis were already on the carousel or showing up by the time I got to baggage claim (less than 10 minutes from gate to baggage area). After flying on Alaska earlier this year and having to wait 45 minutes for my skis, I've made the decision if I need to check bags I'm going to fly Delta back to SEA. Makes a huge difference time wise when you just want to get home.
Other airports-
The new Salt Lake City (SLC) airport is a lot of walking. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I came into gate B1 and the walk to baggage claim was about 15-20 minutes. Supposedly there are bus gates as well that can add additional time getting back to terminal B, then you get to walk. I appreciate the updated airport design and new Delta checkin counters by the rental car area, but going up/down between levels and the miles of walking were a bit much.
Albuquerque (ABQ) and Reno (RNO) airports take 2 minutes to clear through security. Reno had rental cars onsite, Albuquerque you need to take a rental car shuttle to get to so a bit more of a pain.

RNO is nice for the rental cars on site and security is quick.
DAL is nice for being local, but the rental cars being offsite could be an issue for some.
MSY is terrible. Fantastic terminal but the fact they didn't have the forsight to connect the rental cars to the terminal in any meaningful way is insane.

Anybody got a review of the new Laffy terminal?

Flew out of BNA in the beginning of the year. We had both kids and all the shite with that so we went to check bags. We were in line for over 2 hours as there were only 2 people checking bags. By the time we got to the counter, they were no longer checking bags for our flight. I'd guess about half the people in the line started getting turned away to rebook. Delta gave us each (5 people total) a $200 credit and 20k miles for the trouble.
Flew out of TPA last weekend. Made it through security in about 8 minutes for a 9am flight. Very clean and all the service shops were open (where you at ATL?)
Nothing touches my love for my local airport though. CHA: park in the brand new garage about 50 yards from the entrance. Wait in security for less than 5 minutes and walk to any of the 5 gates to catch your flight. I get there at 7am for a flight that starts boarding at 7:15.

Delta complimenting them on their baggage service
They've been doing well with this, even on full flights. Delta is my go to airline but they are not without problems. Flying out of Kansas City over the weekend Delta had four flights departing within an hour of each other and they all seemed to be full. It was more than one of the MCI security entries could handle - Delta should have known better. Instead of a Pre-check lane and a general lane they divided security into 3 lanes depending on flight number. And kept letting people go to the front, even in front of people on the same flight. What a cluster. People who got there in plenty of time ended up waiting a long time in their lower priority lane.
My flight was full. And typically Delta still did not start boarding until 7 minutes after what they show on the boarding pass. And then typically lectured the passengers in the aisle when we were about due to pull back from the gate. Like it was a surprise. Just start boarding a few minutes earlier on full flights, at least when you say you are going to. This crap happens way too often.
On the flight to MCI they must have lectured us 8 or 9 times about masks. Way over the top. I did give them feedback about that. It was much less obnoxious on the flight back. And all flights were on time and baggage was fast. But completely full flights again are going to take some getting used to.

DAL is my home airport so I can’t speak to the rent car thing but it is my favorite.
Totally agree with you on MSY. Nice introduction to the city getting to the cars.

I fly Alaska to and from SEA all the time and never had a baggage issue. I hope you took advantage of their “20 minute baggage guarantee.”

Got screwed pretty good in Denver on February 6th. The night before, American cancelled our flight...no explanation. They auto-booked me to fly out Monday. Not acceptable, so I cancelled and booked Delta through Atl to get home. Delta flight was delayed, unexplained, for an hour. We missed the connection in Atlanta and rebooked for a flight to Shreveport, landing at 11 pm on a Sunday night. We paid for a private shuttle back to Monroe....1 am arrival vs 4 pm the day before + 500 more expense.

Alaska 20 minute baggage guarantee
Since 2010 we have put a guarantee behind our baggage delivery. If your bags are not at baggage claim within 20 minutes of your plane’s arrival at the gate, we’ll offer you a $25 discount code for use on a future Alaska Airlines flight, or 2,500 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan™ bonus miles. In the rare instance that we don't meet our 20 minute guarantee, just get ahold of us at the baggage office within 2 hours of your flight's arrival for your discount code or miles. You can simply speak with one of our customer service agents at the airport.
For large items like skis, skip the carousel and go to large item pickup. I’ve had my large items beat the carousel at certain airports.

Hopefully you live in Pineville at least

Appreciate the link and description. In my case the 45 min+ wait was that weekend after new years when Alaska was still cancelling flights from covid and the snow that hit SEA area. The whole "In the rare instance that we don't meet our 20 minute guarantee, just get ahold of us at the baggage office within 2 hours of your flight's arrival for your discount code or miles." is funny because the wait for the baggage office was at least 1-2 hours

They ran out of money.
Eventually it will get moved.
