Gulf Shores when FWB/Destin is only ~30 more minutes of driving.

It's more like 2 hours. Pensacola is around 30 minutes away from Gulf Shores.

They're exactly the same. There will be a bunch of overweight men sitting under an SEC University tent that they probably didn't attend wearing a neon colored mesh hat drinking cheap beer. They'll be accompanied by their fat wife sucking sugar out of a yeti cup and their three shite head kids slinging sand all over everyone else's shite.
Better be careful....I'm gonna make sure to catch you with some suntan lotion overspray before being dragged out by the rip current

Ft. Walton/Okaloosa Island

no "high rises" (can't be more than 6 floors) so beaches aren't as crowded.

Destin is only 10 minutes away if you want to go there for anything.

Downside is fewer people means less eye-candy (if you are looking for that) and the Brooks Bridge can be a royal PITA if you are going into town for anything

You’re wrong, so...

I used to live in Mobile and made the BR to trip a shitload. I’d make it to the house in 2:30 without traffic, but I was off of I-65.

My usual time to the Florida border is 3-3:15 these days.

Destin and FWB seem more crowded this year. It’s gross. More people are heading west since the hurricane last year maybe

Indigo on Perdido Key isn't crowded just now; but, the water is a little murky, because of all the rain.

P'cola Beach & Navarre are clearer; FWB prolly is, too.

Love Okaloosa Island. Not much to do which is perfect for us. If we want to do something we drove to Destin. Not real commercial and no high rises.

But you’ve got to eat at Old Bay Steamer. You’re welcome.
