I used to be bad about this. It would be like the second I got to my hotel for work, my suitcase burst open and clothes went everywhere. Ironing board left out, clothes draped on chairs, etc. which is weird because I’m fairly tidy at home.

I’ve been trying to be better about picking up after myself lately and it’s much more relaxing.

We (my wife, myself and two teenage boys) keep our AirBNBs pretty much like we keep our home, especially if they have enough storage for us to fully unpack bags. I absolutely can’t stand clutter and it stresses me out, so we pick up, sweep, do laundry, dishes, etc.. just like if we were at home.

If we are forced into a foldaway couch/bed for one of the kids, they have to fold it up every day back into a couch. It’s a pain, but I can’t stand having a hideabed in the middle of the living room where a couch should be.

I feel like I should clarify. I never leave a room or Airbnb in poor shape. I have always picked up after myself before I left. It’s the period between arrival and departure that the place is in disarray.

I usually unpack and put away all clothes, then put them back in the suitcase as they get dirty. Then last day, you're pretty much just packing bathroom stuff.

I would say I am more messy at my hotel than I am at my house, but not bad enough that I would be embarrassed if someone walked in.

Clean kitchen/eating area the same as if we’re home. Wash & dry as soon as we’re done.

A little lax in the den/entertaining area because we’re only in that area during naps and the 1-2 hours from when kids go to sleep until we go to bed.

Suitcases are unpacked and organized to simplify getting ready for the day. Suitcase is then propped up and used to collect dirty laundry.

That's......pretty damn genius. I'm going to try that next trip.

Usually I just throw the suitcase in a corner and stack the clothes up next to it when I'm done wearing them. Cannot stand clutter in the room.

I have red and green bags/packing cubes from Tom Bihn that I use for clean/dirty

I'm an immaculate, world class packer/organizer leading up to a trip. It all goes out the window on day 2 of the trip and everything is shambles until I get home.

We are pretty clean travelers as well. If we’re only staying one or two nights in a hotel we barely unpack, but if we stay a week or so then we totally unpack the suitcases and use the closets and dressers.

We visit the same condo in Destin every year and the owners must love us- between my wife and her sister they clean the place better than the best cleaning crew could even imagine. They clean it upon arrival before we unpack and then again the night before we leave.
