Kauai is one of our top destinations we’ve visited, will definitely be going back.
Hawaii is one of those places that was never really on our list of places to go, as we aren't huge beach people (usually only a few days at a time), but we ended up really enjoying it and have gone twice now for a total of ~3.5 weeks. The combination of relaxation on the beach, and adventure with hiking is really awesome. Both mountains and beach in one location, it's pretty hard to beat.

I was the same way but my ex-gf wanted to go to a nice island where English was spoken. So I booked the first trip in 2018, we broke up, and I ended up going alone. I was going to Argentina a month later so I wasn't super excited about Kauai. And then I got there and fell in love with the island. There's so much to do for adrenaline junkies who love the outdoors (crazy hikes, cliff diving, gnarly 4x4 trails, ocean kayaking, deep sea fishing, etc). Everyone just lives with the sun there, and I really like just taking it easy on the booze, waking up early, getting a lot of rest, and then doing something physically grueling in the day. The food is phenomenal also. I'll probably try to go at least once every 4 years or so

great write up. I have never been to that Island but myself and the wife will be returning to Hawaii within the next couple of years. Loved Oahu and Maui and have been to those two islands a few times but probably the Big island and wherever we decide next time. Unfortunately my wife hates hiking but it looks beautiful and we might just drive around and look at the various locations. Thanks again

I'd have to hard disagree. Are you more of a developed island type?

Nope, I went to Kauai over the others because I wanted less to do with beaches + people. There's obviously other stuff to do there, just nothing I'd travel all of the way to Kauai specifically for.

that foodland in princeville has the best poke. and they had something called korean fried chicken that was delicious too.

I ate there an embarrassing amount since I was around the corner.

The strip mall lost power while I was there in a moderate to light rainstorm.

It's quite fascinating how a lot of Hawaii is like SE Asia infrastructure wise than it is US.
The bridge to Hanalei was out for most of my time on the island because of a landslide

I love how you can walk in the foodland on the north shore in literally just a bathing suit. No shoes or anything

There’s also a chocolate farm almost to Hanalei Bay that has a beautiful 4 mile trail around it, my wife and I ran it.

Garden Island? Do you recall the trail name?
