Nope. Has to be delivered or room service. Only allowed to leave for Covid test. Getting wife tested tomorrow morning.

Obviously, I am not encouraging you to leave the hotel. That said, how will they know? Do they place a piece of tape on the door and door frame? Are you in a "Covid section”? Cameras?

The crown does not comp the room. They do offer assistance with food, medicine and supplies delivery if you request it.

No, no cameras or tape on the room. UK is a law abiding country, so a lot of this is the honor system and they presume very high compliance. I’m all about following the rule of law, so I’m doing what I have to do.

I don’t know how they would catch us cheating - maybe hotel staff? Even so, it may be a pain in the butt but I knew this could happen so will make the best of it.

Seems like the worst case scenario here is you test positive right when your wife gets out of quarantine. That would truly suck. I probably would have left my wife there and flown home

I had to do 14 days in Bangkok in July …. Also had a balcony, which made it more bearable

Only food delivered and was able to leave room twice to test in the lobby

Good luck !

This was early on in the pandemic but I heard of government folks calling your room. If you answered, great, you're not breaking isolation, if noy, they may send someone to your room to see if you were there.

Ugh. Now I’m positive.

Looks like we’re trapped in the room for another 5-7 days.

Hotels in London are not cheap. And Mrs Bok reminds me that she thought it too risky to go.

Actually she’s been really cool about it.

Good news is I no longer have to social distance in the hotel room . . .

One of my orders for room service might have to include alcohol

So . . . Here we are! Paying many pounds to eat room service and look out the window.

What does one do if they can’t afford to pay for the extra 10 days of hotel + delivery food? Estimating $200 a day conservatively, you’re looking at at least 2 grand.

I hope that you have decent cable in your room. All I can think of is that scene in European Vacation where the only channel is the BBC, or something like that.

Ain’t no hotels in Central London for $200 a day. It’s going to cost about what I was planning on spending anyway- except that I’m paying thousands of pounds to stay locked in a hotel room instead of enjoying the city.

No choice. Got to suck it up until I get a negative test and can go home.

We’ve traveled a ton this year and lucked out until this trip. Freaking omicron screwed us.
