Let's see, there's a couple of nba jersey shops, a shoe shop for the latest kicks, and a lecruset for the wifey
that's about it

no real dining areas worth it either

I take it's not the same anymore?

It's a lame shopping mall. I don't understand why it was/is an attraction other than for people at the convention center to walk through while wasting some time.

Story Land

Story land and carousel gardens amusement park is the best toddler attraction in the city. And is largely unique. The children’s museum is great as well.

Doing both in one day with a toddler is probably a bit much.

The Algiers ferry is also very good toddler entertainment. Will cost $5 for you, wife and toddler to ride to Algiers and back. Runs 2 or 3 times an hour.

I’ve taken my kids just for a ride trip and nothing else and they love it.

Tout de Suite Cafe is a terrific breakfast/lunch spot if you do want to do something while on the other side of the river.

Edit - if you plan to take a stroller on the ferry, it can be a bit narrow at places. If you have a big fat stroller that is less than ideal.

Wanted to update to thank everyone for their input on this. We got there kind of late Friday, so ate dinner and went to bed. Saturday we hit the zoo then the park for the children’s museum. We wanted to try story land and carousel, but little man just didn’t have enough gas in the tank. Finished up with dinner at Parran’s last night and had an amazing poboy. Thanks for the tips again; we had an awesome trip!
