Anyone renewed a passport online in the last 6 months? I submitted my app late December and still have not been approved, but have a trip out of country coming up in early April... was supposed to be 6-9 month wait but I'm past that now.

In the event that I dont get it back in time before my trip, will I be able to go to New Orleans or Jacksonville and get one the same day since I already have an application pending? Or am I at the mercy of the Fed Gov?

I hadn a friend go to an office to renew and expedite for an additional charge. Took about a month. I don't think she had submitted previously. Check with an office that deals with that and see if you can expedite too.

You could probably just do the same day renewal in New Orleans I would think since it hasn't been approved yet. Would definitely call and ask though. Have to wait until the 14 day window for your trip

I did it a few weeks ago. Kind of a pain in the butt since you have to go to New Orleans and spend all day there but you'll get it that day

i mailed my renewal application on 2/7 and my wife's on 2/10. we got my wifes new passport in the mail yesterday and it says on the website that they got mine on 3/5 and it will be 5-8 weeks from that date. nothing makes any sense. it's just a cluster.

It really is a cluster of epic proportions. Online renewal was supposed to take 6-9 weeks, I’m at week 11 now and travel in just over two weeks. AND they won’t even talk to you if you call before 14 days before your travel. I’d you’re not within 14 days they ask you to hang up and call back when you are.

I’ve called a couple times since my 9 week renewal window ended and the people have absolutely no personality, it’s evident they’re reading from a slow chart.

Eta: was going to correct my typo from ‘slow chart’ to ‘flow chart’…but slow chart probably works better in this case. Double entendre as well!

I just posted in another thread about this - wife did online renewal, mytravel.gov listed 12/29/22 as acceptance date. Maybe two-three weeks ago status updated to processing (Tucson bureau - don't ask why, we live in Louisiana). Received email Friday it had been shipped and come in yesterday (3/20/23). Just a hair short of three months.

Travel is scheduled for May, so did not expedite. Started to sweat a little bit and logged in to try to expedite last week, and it wouldn't allow, I figured that meant it was close and indeed it was.

Good luck, hope this helps.

mine shows received 1/24. So now 9 weeks so far - still hasn't been updated to processing.
