Branson isn't prettier than the Buffalo area. Not by a long shot. Branson is also freaking cheesy. I do agree that NWA and Tennessee have quite a bit in common. As does, North Carolina. We've found ourselves having to go to Tenn and NC a lot lately for mountain bike racing, and we don't get nearly as excited about going there as we do going out West, because they basically just feel like being in Arkansas... whereas going out West is completely different climate and geography.

I think it is and cheesy as it may be, the kids love it. This is about places to travel and seeing anything in Arkansas once is enough (although I wouldn’t be upset if I had to eat at that fisherman’s wharf thing in Hot Springs again. )

The point being, you could literally blindfold yourself and pick a spot in Tennessee, NC, Kentucky, and Georgia and find a random place that is better than NW Arkansas. I’m not saying it isn’t nice, but if you aren’t from there and don’t live there, there is very little reason to go.

What am I missing in regards to NW Arkansas? It’s not Tennessee. Drive a little further and go to Branson which is much prettier. It doesn’t have the culture of Louisiana. If you go more towards the center, Hot Springs was ok but I would be fine if I never went back. Circle Little Rock and ask yourself if we really need it?
If you have never been to AR, it has beautiful mountains and waterfalls. It has an actual National Park (Louisiana has none). It has Eureka Springs (which itself has the beautiful Thorncrown Chapel). It has Crystal Bridges:

Which, in addition to being gorgeous, has I believe the largest collection of American art in the world.

I'm not saying AR should be #1, but the guy has it at like 42 - which is presposterous IMO. His blurb essentially says "I've never even been there".

I looked at Brentwood in fall on Google - it's pretty, but nowhere near as nice as Eureka Springs.

It doesn't have to be a competition, but the claim that literally randomly picking a spot in those other states will beat ANY spot in Arkansas is silly.

Have you been to Crystal Bridges? It's weird how obscure it is.

Yeah. We are members. Crystal Bridges is expanding and will roughly double in size, and they’re putting the new whole health institute right in that area as well, which is a school of medicine with a holistic approach that Alice Walton is funding.

Bentonville is absolutely bonkers. It has more cranes per capital currently than any other city in the world. LINK
My wife owns a store in Bentonville and we are mountain bikers, so we are there quite a bit.

I live in Alaska and there are things I can find in NW Arkansas that I will not experience here.

Not all rocks, trees and dirt are the same.

I can name 100 places in Tennessee and Georgia you could randomly pick that are shitholes.

Your take is dumb.

100% California is incredible. Prog trash has fricked it up but that fact notwithstanding it is one of the greatest places on earth.

100% correct. California is the most beautiful state in the country and it isn't close. Big Bear, Mammoth Springs, Yosemite, Pismo Beach, etc.

I will never move back to California (I lived there almost 2 years) but people not giving it it's due because of politics is egregious.

As far as Louisiana goes--there's truly only one reason I will ever step foot in Louisiana again and that is if to possibly fish Venice with friends. Besides that, hard pass.

I'd throw Alaska up there. Hawaii if you dont like varied terrain.

Hawaii is one note as you state.
Alaska doesn’t have what Cali has, as amazing as Alaska is.
Beaches, mountains, deserts.
From Yosemite to Death Valley to Catalina to Channel Islands.
Big cities (San Fran has been turned to crap, but it’s beautiful), amusement parks, Hollywood, pro and college sports of every level, dining of every sort, multiple wine regions.

Man, this guy is your typical d-bag northeastern tool.

KY is horses and fishing? I doubt this clown ever visited Kentucky.

The fact he ranks Maryland so high completely discredits this joke of a list

Yeah, there are pockets of the desert that look appealing. I definitely could see why someone would rank it number one, but I dont think its necessarily a runaway.

I’m not fan of Louisiana but I have a hard time believing it’s the 47th best state to visit. His top 10 is pretty agreeable but Iowa ahead of Louisiana? Come on

Iowa should be dead last.

Not just the desert.
All the other things I mentioned are not available in one state.
