SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey joined the broadcast team during the Texas and Georgia women’s basketball game on Thursday night and said he was in favor of a one-time transfer rule. Per On3:

“My advocacy would be, hey, we should be back to some type of one-time transfer exception,” Sankey said during the second quarter. “But we have to support educational continuity if we truly believe that academics is the heart of what we do. And I’m a true believer in that.

NCAA which simply means all universities could easily make this happen. Each school could just adopt their own unwritten or written rule within the university that we don’t accept transfers
For athletic reasons. Now…they would all
Have to be trusted and we know that won’t happen. Too much greed.

So I guess the NCAA has some money they would like to waste on legal fees in regards to another lost cause.

Well, here’s the thing. If there is a collective agreement, they don’t have a choice. I have work contracts that prevent me from doing certain things. There is zero difference. If you want to play, you follow the rules. But everyone has to agree to them collectively.

That’s why the whole structure needs to be burned down and rebuilt with a commissioner.

A commish won’t make a bit of difference if the courts are ruling on these cases. Again, Ed O’Bannon laid out the blueprint. The courts supersede any private organization. If you passed this in the NCAA then it would just be taken to court and they would rule that you can’t limit transfers as that goes against the constitution. For rules to be enforced the athletes would have to be considered employees. It’s not going to happen. The mess we have is the mess we’re gonna live with.
