I stayed at a resort. 35 minutes to the south of the airport. I went to the Zona Romantica and the Malecon many times though. Always felt very safe. Tons of Americans and Canadiens were down there.

Oh, I know. I'm not naive about the cartels. And Mexico has a higher murder rate (in percentages and raw numbers) than the US. I'm well aware. And granted, I'm not going to the ghettos in Mexico City when I visit there.

I've been to Mexico City and Puerto Vallarta numerous times. I felt safer in those cities than I felt in Atlanta, New Orleans, NYC and other places in the US. I had a gun pulled on me in Baltimore and was told to get my "cracka @ss" out of the city. I also was shown a gun and told to get my white @ss out of Ensley, Al, suburb of Birmingham, (I took a wrong turn off an interstate exit).
I have numerous close Mexican friends. They all say the same thing. If you don't F with the cartels, they won't F with you. I'm planning on going to Mexico City in May. I'll love every minute of it. That city is better than most American large cities.

Which resort? I've been to Garza Blanca 5 times there. It's amazing. I felt safer in Puerto Vallarta than New Orleans. Hopefully, this will pass. Mexico can't afford to lose their tourists.

I first saw him in Ivanhoe (1982). Great movie. He played the knight who was obsessed with Rebecca (played by Olivia Hussey) and he fought Ivanhoe for her life.

Won't it also mean less bowl eligible SEC teams? 8 teams will have an additional loss they normally wouldn't have.
