Anyone else conflicted on feral hogs?

I know they cause lots of damage and deserve to be eradicated for it..
But, I can't say I wouldn't miss hunting them when I'm back in Texas.
I've had some fun pig hunts in my day.
There's not much middle ground with them though. They establish quick and spread and frick shite up.

You’ll continue to enjoy hunting them, they’ll never be eradicated. Feral pigs are the new nutria.

Too much of an economy around them in Texas, they'll never eradicate them there.

No. They need to be wiped out. Too much damage.

Where exactly do you think they’ll disappear to ?

Good news...no one is hungry enough to extirpate the species.
Coonasses did it...when they were poor and needed to feed their families.
Even coonasses can't dent the population anymore.

I saw a video where they trained a robot to chase them out of town in Poland. Those were some big hogs.

I saw the same video, it is only a matter of time before the pigs figure out that robot can't do shite to them and they turn on it. They'd shred that thing in no time flat.

I dont want a single one on our property. When they are there the deer are gone.

Im not.
Hate those frickers. Even with trapping and night hunting we can’t seem to make a serious dent in them.
They are too smart and breed too quickly. We’ve killed 13 so far in 2026 and I still see packs of 10-12 rolling through on cameras

Kill 'em all.
The only issue I have is some people making them suffer for no good reason. There are some messed up videos and stories out there of people doing awful things to them. It's not the pig's fault they suck. Kill them as cleanly as you can and be done with it. They're relatively intelligent animals, and they feel pain the same as you and I.

I’d do without them. They do a lot of damage to pasture. So much that we had several traps they weren’t going in so I bought a pulsar to quell them.
Hunting at night is hard on me. I do not do well without sleep. I mostly keep it to weekends and then not that late. Only if they are consistently showing up will I even attempt a 1 or 2am hunt.
If they all came out 1 hour before sunrise and 1 hour after sunset it wouldn’t be so bad.

I hunt in Tensas. People north and south of us are covered up with them and we have none. In last 5 years or so we have gotten a few pics of 1 or 2 over the summer. Shocks me we haven't started seeing more over the years. That said, we are covered up in bear. Maybe that’s why. Wish we could get rid of the bear.

I’d pay good money to eradicate them forever.

I would love to have acreage with hogs. Would be fun to shoot them.

It's all fun until the bear and the hogs are within shooting distance of the house.
Having to worry about my toddler around that is infuriating.
As soon as he's old enough we are shooting them 7 nights a week.

See? You’re excited about doing that. I would be too

I bought 400 acres in SW MS in 2008 and there had never been pigs here, but like they say there are 2 kinds of counties in MS, those with pigs and those that will have them. I’ve corral trip wire trapped, sniped, and dog hunted pigs on other properties before this, but when they showed up here in 2011, I bought a Jager Pro trap and have caught well over 1200 hogs here (stopped counting at 1200 a couple years ago). I’m on 2 creeks and that’s where they like to be.
I retired in 2017 and became a dealer for Jager Pro. The short story is I’ve seen mass destruction across LA and MS and even though I’ve caught that many on my place where I’ve lived since 2013, I’m still catching them. Caught 16 in past 3 weeks but still have a group of 26 that I’m trying to get on bait and trap.
Bottom line, we need the sodium nitrate poison Glen Guedry has developed at LSU and is supposedly in EPA approval stage for the past 6-7 years and I have no idea why it’s taking so damn long.
Pigs are the fkn devil, terrible for deer herd, wreaking havoc on turkey and quail nests, disease riden (see La State Vet Dr James Lacour’s Presentation on Wild Hogs), no natural predators of any significance, and breed like banshees. Fkem all, eradicate every one, but that will never happen even with the poison. I’m a small government guy, but we do need States to stand up and do more and FWIW, Ag Commissioner Andy Gibson is leading the way in MS. LA needs to catch up.
