Former NC State safety TaMarcus Cooley announced his commitment to LSU on Monday and has signed with the Tigers.

Cooley, a redshirt freshman from Knightdale, N.C., began his career at Maryland and transferred to NC State last offseason. He will have three years of eligibility remaining at LSU.

The 6-0, 200-pounder totaled 39 tackles, nine PBU, and three interceptions this season. He was the highest-graded player on NC State’s defense, according to Pro Football Focus.

Cooley just recently wrapped up a visit to LSU last week.

Last time we added a NCSU transfer it was Tommy White. Let's hope this one works out the same way. GT!

9 PBUs and 3 picks as a freshman shows that he has excellent ball skills. That’s one thing we’ve been desperately missing in the entire secondary, but especially at safety. When the ball’s in the air, it’s just as much the DB’s as it is the WR’s. Go make a fricking play. How many times the past 2 years have our guys been in position only to not be aggressive enough to go make a play? Or tried and just whiffed. Him being the highest graded player on their defensive suggests he’s not afraid to come up and help in run support too. Love it.

I've said thos before, but it's not the same. Super low ranked player who left the state to play at Maryland. Didn't like it and went back home and became a star. Now he has parlayed that year into life changing money at LSU.

Hmmh? ... from the 'ACC' where the competition is (fill-in-the-blank).

There are a lot of good players in the ACC. Some may be on bad teams but that does not mean there is no talent in ACC.

Are you under the impression that the ACC doesn't have amy good players? Even a bad team will have some very good players. He is a very good player.

Are you serious? The top 2 passers came from the ACC, with 3 in the top 18 from the ACC. Four players had at least 26 TD passes with 3 having at least 34 TDs.
