Need Christmas gift idea for father in law. He loves westerns and history stuff too. Any good books you would consider?

Saw this and thought it might be good.

Check out The Walking Drum by Louis Lamore.
If you are looking for fiction, that is.

I just read Killers of the Flower Moon. It is very good, and has a lot of what you’re looking for… true story as well.

Dodge City and also Tombstone, both by Tom Clavin, were good reads.

I liked “The Son”. I believe they made it into a miniseries.

The chapters with young Eli & Comanches are fantastic.

“I Fought With Custer” is a great nonfiction option.

James Donovan's A Terrible Glory and Thomas Powers's The Killing of Crazy Horse both tell the story of the Indian Wars.

Killers of the Flower Moon has already been mentioned.

Empire of the Summer Moon by S.C. Gwynne is really good. It covers the history of the Comanches. If he is a fan of John Wayne, this book tells the true story that inspired The Searchers.
