Just getting into Grisham… Finishing up The Partner right now and I’m all in. What would be the best one to follow up? Anyone read most of his work and want to rank them? Thanks for the feedback.

The Partner is the first one you read?

A Time to Kill
Whole lot of meh
The Appeal

The best have all already been mentioned. Just stick with those.
The Partner
The Firm
The Client
A Time to kill
The Pelican Brief
In no particular order.

Yes, The Partner is the first I’ve read.

Stick with the early stuff. Runaway Jury and The Brethern are two that haven’t been mentioned that are decent

Playing for Pizza is kind of an obscure on that I liked.

I read his first four books and gave up on him after that because they were all so similar. It seems like that was a good move.

Just look up his Wiki and read them in the order of publishing date, stopping after Runaway Jury. I'd probably skip The Chamber. The first 3 are his best, then they start going downhill.

The Firm is by far the best.

Try reading The Summons. I just finished it. An interesting ending.

I liked Skipping Christmas too.
For the legal books, it’s really The Firm, Runaway Jury, The Client, Pelican Brief. At least for me.

He's written many great books, and many mediocre ones.
In my opinion, The Partner was his best.
I never understood why they never made The Partner into a movie though.
I would recommend any of his 1st ten books or so, then they are very hit and miss.

A painted House is very good.

I read the Appeal. That is probably the worst book of his that I read.

Spoiler
About the Partner…
Still pisses me off that the girl takes the money and runs in the end.

All the above except for a Painted House. Maybe ok but wasn’t for me.
Also, The Rainmaker
And The Chamber
The Partner is my favorite.

The Firm is a classic. His best in my opinion.
The Partner and The Pelican Brief are good.
After a while it seemed as though he was writing just to meet publisher’s deadlines.
