Tulane AD wants Napier due to experience.

Also probably because Napier won’t be gone in two years like Sumrall.

Well he’s never gone out on a limb and been wrong and works in the LSU athletics sphere. Personal relationships with coaches in all sports and AD staff.

He never gives up huge information when asked like head coaching searches and I don’t go to that well often, but did say yesterday he was told Baker verbally agreed to a huge new contract, but hadn’t signed. Also said Tulane was still trying.

Today he’s insinuating Tulane might have the lead now.

He’s been right on recruits I’ve asked him about almost every time over the years in the big 3 sports. 3/4ths of the time he’ll say he has no idea or can’t tell me, which I appreciate.

ETA:

Also first time I've shared on here and likely the last

Kalshi Mkt

Baker jumped from 56% to 94% at 7:25pm CT to be Tulane's next head coach....something happening?

Rumor has it that Tulane is waiting until after the CCG to announce a HC to avoid distractions.

Somehow we have 16 strong 3-star prospects signed despite all of this. The cupboard isn't bare. Do recruits know something we don't?

Tulane is notoriously good at deploying a "cone of silence".

Tulane won’t be hiring baker if Bapier can be had for less

Napier knows the landscape, has head coaching experience with success and wants to be back in Louisiana

My Tulane friends tell me that the AD wants Napier because he has head coaching experience but some of the big boosters want Baker. Meanwhile they go through signing week with no coach at all.

The fans - who don’t make this decision - will riot if it’s Napier. Things might actually get nasty.

I hope the boosters win out here. They are the ones paying NIL.

I believe the A.D. said that HC experience was preferred but not all that mattered.

If certain boosters threaten to close the checkbook then that could swing the decision.

Napier isn't on my 'will cancel my season tickets if hired' list.

He isn't my first, second or third choice. I still think Baker comes here.

That’s idiotic. Norvell has been very up and down at FSU, but he was perfectly fine in the G5. Napier should likely be viewed the same way.

The G5 is just a very different landscape and Napier has already proven he can be very successful at a program with less resources than Tulane that still played some teams on par with good AAC squads. He also recruited well above what ULL is typically capable of. He would likely be very successful at Tulane with the talent and money in the program.

A lot of the fan base wants a 'young and hungry' coach who is trying to land a big job. People have questioned Billy's desire (I don't) to recruit at a lower level again.

Fans also look at his time at USL and see that he won a lot of close games.

I'd take him over Frank Wilson, Coach O or Will Hall.
