So Gruden? I mean Brandon wouldn't have any other sources.

He got fired from his last job. Maybe you meant bunt single.

Franklin is what I saw as well, I felt like Arkansas had a chance to get the best coach out of all of these programs with hiring a diamond in the rough that is one of the so called lesser names with the highest ceiling. Franklin to me isn’t that. Boring choice imo which wouldn’t excite me if I was a hog fan

If you're an Arkansas fan Franklin wouldn't impress you?

He could have them winning 8-10 games a yr at Arkansas. That would be great for them.

Arkansas getting Franklin would be interesting. Franklin is a good Coach despite what people seem to think. Is he who I would want at LSU? No but hes still a good Coach. That would be a promising hire for Arkansas.

From the Arkansas perspective, you need to ask yourself what are the expectations of the football program. I think Franklin could raise the floor for the program but I am not a big fan of hiring guys to less ideal situations and expecting better results.

At Penn State, 80% of the conference teams Franklin played were outmatched entirely in terms of talent. At Arkansas, how often will that be the situation?

He's a total fraud and padded his winning % by pummeling weak teams. His teams show no pulse in big games and the sample size is huge.

His team won two playoff games and lost by 3 points in the semis just last year.

I've been a hog fan for 46 years, at this point in our life as fans of anyone tells you that consistently winning 8 games wouldn't be awesome they're lying to you. Sure we would love to consistently win 10 or more but that's just flat out not realistic. I mean who does that? Bama, Georgia, Ohio State, who else?

Winning 8 games a year puts you in position to pop up and win 9 or 10 some years which will 100% get you in the playoff, especially once it goes to 16 teams.

Have you been under a rock since the 2011 season?

1992-2011 Arkansas football
10+ win seasons: 3
9+ win seasons: 6
8+ win seasons: 10
.500+ seasons: 13
SEC Title Games: 3

2012-2025 Arkansas football
10+ win seasons: 0
9+ win seasons: 1
8+ win seasons: 2
.500+ seasons: 6
SEC Title Games: 0
Winless SEC Seasons: 3 (4 could be coming)
1 Win or Less SEC Seasons: 5 (6 could be coming)

James Franklin should excite the fanbase.

I'd take Franklin in a heartbeat... and if we could make the hire early and start the process, even better.
Might show some actual competence by our athletic department for a change. If he's really forward thinking he figures out a way to keep BP on either as OC or analyst or something and you are that much further ahead on one side of the ball.

Yeah.... that all makes WAY too much sense for anything HY has done as AD.

8-10 would be great for LSU at this point too.

As a fan of a team that has Arkansas as a permanent SEC opponent, I hope they hire Gruden.

That has failed experiment written all over it.

Everyone on the board dumps on Franklin but not sure why. Until the 3 losses in a row this year he seemed to have Penn state program built up

He’s basically a younger Brian Kelly. Wins a lot but loses when it matters. And just like BK, he’s a bit of an a-hole too.

BFW hates Arkansas with the strongest of passions. This is 100% a (successful) troll.

You can criticize Franklin for not getting over the hump without making up bullshite. Most of their big losses were tough games. The Ohio State and Notre Dame games last year alone were heartbreakers.

I think it's ridiculous to suggest Franklin isn't a good coach and that someplace like Arkansas wouldn't be thrilled to have him.

LSU has won 8+ games in 23 of 25 seasons.

Arky has was 8+ games in 9 of 25 seasons.

Totally the same thing though.

Arkansas fans should be ecstatic with Franklin if he goes there. He’s more 2010-2016 Les Miles than Brian Kelly.

His teams would be physical and win more games than they lose. Mostly with defense and a good running game.
