re: Arkansas hires Bret Bielema

He reminds me of Dabo at Clemson. He will beat the absolute brakes off of inferior competition that he is supposed to beat and will rarely, if ever, beat the teams that he should not beat (now aTm, LSU, Bama, etc.).
Arky will be a solid 7-5 to 8-4 school that beats NW Louisiana 77-0 and loses to Bama by 4 TDs every year.

Arkansas is never gonna out recruit the sec anyways. Bb was winning with poverty two and three star players and I realize that's in the big ten but I think he will still do well
Yeah, Arkansas can do worse, but this guy isn't going to win any SEC titles at Arky. Solid, not spectacular.

But, Bielema is by ALL ACCOUNTS just about the biggest dick you'll ever meet anywhere.
yep that's true. It's an odd fit but Bielema has pretty good results so if he can hire a good staff he may have a chance.

Bielema's wife is pretty.

Okay hire. Won't be as good as Petrino, but you can probably contend for an SEC West championship every other year or so. Don't know if there were any better options than that, so not bad.

That sucks for Arky, looks like LSU and Bama will remain the main force in the west

Being objective...
Brett Bielema
Pros
- 68-24 HC record
- 4 10+ win seasons
- 3 straight BCS Bowls*
- Fields competitive team
- Above .500+ conference (sans 2008)
- Barry Alvarez disciple
Cons
- In 7 years, never recruited a class ranked higher than #34 (Rivals)
- Average recruiting class - #48
- Two recruiting classes ranked #50 or worse. (56, 87)
- 2-4 Bowl Record
- 0-2 in BCS Bowls
- 8-5 in a down B1G 10 Year
- Publicly complained about unfair recruiting
- In BCS due to other team's ineligibility*
- Prone to letdowns (26-21 Northern Iowa; 16-14 Utah State)
Meh. Has potential, but there are some serious questions marks. Not a knockout by any means, but atleast he is better than John L.

His staff is what will make him sink or swim. Like people have been saying he doesn't recruit so his assistants will have to handle that.

lsu fans you are laughing at a coach who has went to 3 straight rose bowls
Well,I'm laughing at you because of your poor grammar.
With that said, with Ohio State on probation this year, Mississippi State could have won the Big Whatever they are.
Enjoy those "hard nosed" 6-6 squads.

I'm sorry i'm just not gonna get pessimistic about a coach that goes to bCS games every year.
You could coach a team in the Big Ten to go to a BCS bowl.

Is he the one that called out urban for stealing his committed recruits? If that's the case he's going to hate sec recruiting haha

He lost his Oline coach and now he sucks.
He put on a pathetic coaching display in the Rose Bowl against TCU.
OMG three straight rose bowls!!***

Who knows though, this guy may turn out alright, but it all depends on the guys he surrounds himself with.
