What’s the purpose? How does it hurt LSU to wait another week? The most likely outcome this whole time is that LSU was going to hire a coach who is currently coaching somewhere else and that it would occur after the regular season.

Agreed. UNLESS LSU has a signature with legal clawback if he now backs out, Tigers need to move on.
The extra week means the NFL could come calling, the whole Doober (I know I spelled it wrong) to Penn State and Lane to Bama could be in play..LSU has options, unless Kiffin has such a poisoned pill in a Memorandum of Agreement that he's not backing out.
If this is some BS continuing of negotiations, it's not in good faith.

All I will say is he better hope he wins big at his next stop, I highly doubt any AD will take him seriously going forward if things don’t work out where he lands.
