As much as I HATE this and want it to end, it seems like two points are clear.
1) Kiffin wants to finish out the regular season with his team and honor the seniors and rest of the squad (respect but could also partially be a PR thing on his end)
2) he is most definitely leaving and will be coming to LSU

No Florida?

He's gone. Just letting him finish the regular season. Which is the right way to handle it.

And this lines up with what people were saying about lsu letting him finish the season.

Time to move on. We are going to get burnt if we wait.

I sure as hell hope that the stories we don't have a back up plan aren't true. If we allow Kiffin to drag this out without us having a safety net, then we are well and truly fricked. It gives Ole Miss another week to work on Kiffin while we sit around and wait. Get Dillingham on the phone ASAP. At least reach out to other candidates if you haven't already. This just screams bait and switch.

They gave him an extension. He hasn’t signed it, or they would’ve announced that he did, and ended any and all “distractions” leading up to the Egg Bowl. Instead they put out a statement stating his future plans will be announced after the game? That sounds like Lane’s leaving.

You think Verge has any say in this? Now that's funny.

it's so damn ridiculous what Kiffin is doing. And I guess Carter shares some blame here too. Like, you're not removing distractions for the Egg Bowl if you're waiting until after the Egg Bowl to make an announcement. Honestly, it would be far less distracting to just put it out there what he's going to do now with a week to get through the news breaking. Now, all anyone will talk about leading up to that game is whether or not he's staying. Kiffin is such an attention whore.

As long as the players aren't distracted, nothing else matters. Frankly, I love it! Sports, especially college football, is better when there are great personalities. "Heroes and villains".

For all we know, this is a planned reaction to set up a scenario where Ole Miss beats their rival to clinch a CFP spot, then follows that up with an announcement giving a big F-You to two (purported) big players in the SEC (though they haven't sniffed the CFP in multiple years now). It would be great fun for Ole Miss fans. Hell, kind of like an old WWF promo

It doesn’t. Some might think LSU will miss out on a coach if they wait another week, but who? Who are they missing out on?

It’s as I suspected: Ole Miss is in on it.

They’re trying to hurt us by dragging this out. And then Lane, by prearrangement signs the extension.

Verge needs to end this all by telling Kiffin we need an answer TODAY. Otherwise all offers are off the table. We can’t be held hostage like this.

He’s staying, they want to focus on regular season and then hit everyone with the he’s staying let’s keep building this into the playoffs. No answer till the egg bowl is dumb. Makes no sense

reading between the lines, I think Lane fully expected Ole Miss to say "hit the road" today, hence the optimism from the LSU side...then Ole Miss told him to stay another week, which was not expected...so now there is a chance he has a change of heart?

Could be. Or they could've all agreed that he will at least finish the season with his players but told them he was leaving.

The change of heart thing could be real unless he already signed the contract with lsu. Sounds like he is definitely leaving tho. Let's just hope it's to lsu.
