Your whole premise is based on Sexton not knowing how much LSU can spend if they want.

That was consistent to the timeline in which I heard things on that day. Initial information I had is that they would be significant staff changes. Next thing I know, I got a text around 1 PM saying BK was out and Frank Wilson would be the interim.
Follow his post history, you will see that he posted that around 245. None of that was public until later in the afternoon.

I would venture to say that the information was changing in real time even for those directly involved. Lol.
Just because information turned out not to be accurate in the end does not mean that it was not accurate at the time it was provided.
