No. I asked a question. I don’t make predictions.

LSU has apparently put all of its eggs in one basket

I've seen it said, but this absolutely can't be true.

You’re not really an LSU fan are you?

Sure I am. But I'm a rational person first.

Every year we see coaching searches/hires nationwide. I'm old enough to have seen several at LSU. Rarely, if ever, have we seen one school name a sitting HC at another school their new HC before the end of the regular season. So to suggest it's going to happen at LSU (or in this case Florida) is irrational. It also seems very unlikely that a HC would abandon his playoff bound team in advance of the playoffs which, if Ole Miss beats MSU (and maybe even if they don't), is what Kiffin would have to do to take the LSU job. And to compare Kelly taking the LSU job to this potential scenario is not accurate. In 2021, ND's regular season was over. There was a CHANCE, if things fell exactly right for them on championship game Saturday, they could get into the CFP. But that was FAR from a certainty. In fact, it didn't happen. If Ole Miss beats MSU they are unequivocally in the CFP. There would not be a set of circumstances that need to occur the following Saturday to get them in. They would be in.

I want Kiffin to be LSU's next HC. The LSU fan in me wants that. But all you, me, or anyone else on this board can do is discuss that possibility. We can't make it happen. So, the rational side of me, for the sake of discussion, says I just don't see the timing working out.

Altar. Not alter. Alter means changed. As in, “I altered my plans and left you at the altar.”:

There is a stronger chance LSU is going to be the one with "egg on its face" when Kiffin announces shortly after beating Miss. St that he's staying with Ole Miss (I still don't think he abandons six years of program building just before the CFP).

What would be the reason for not announcing already? He’s already damaged his name and brand at Ole Miss. The extension signing would already be public knowledge and announced.

Well for the sake of discussion, the playoffs have only been around for a few years so who's to say what would've happened with coaches if it had been implemented say 20 or 30 years ago. Coaches have left teams having good seasons for what they consider to be better jobs.
