DInardo got worse as the talent got better. His 98 99 teams were loaded.

Okie state has nowhere near the talent pool, 2nd fiddle, and nowhere near the tradition and he did just as good at OSU as Gerry did here.

Im a Miles fan. Do I think he is one of the top 3 football minds probably not, but he is a very good coach and can keep our successes where they are at for as long as he decides to coach here. Hiring a new coach particularly at this time is a big risk. Could we find someone that is as good or better? Hopefully but theres not nearly as many people out there that can maintain the level that we are at than the negas would have you believe.

Mullen would be nice but he already turned down the U, no slam dunk that he comes here.

Didn't Mullen turn down the U because the UF job was coming available?

LSU will be fine one way or the other. No coach is greater than the program, unless you're Saban and Bama.

This is my point basically. I am not clamoring for a coaching change b/c things are good but if it happens i won't lose sleep over it.

Dinardo got full of himself and became real stubborn.....but the thing he did do is elevated the program to a level better than when he came in.

Based on what? LSU has never been this good for this long. Other than replacing Saban when has LSU ever hired a coach when they have been on top. The way I see it is we are 1 for 1 in this situation.....no reason we can't be successful if and when Miles is replaced as long as the program is still winning.

Assuming Miles leaves,

why not Jimbo Fisher? He had a decent 1st year at FSU. The ACC is not the SEC. I would assume LSU could get him. He was with saban when saban won a title at LSU. Jimbo has no Florida ties. he was raised in WVa.

Would a coach rather play against duke, maryland, and the ACC or the SEC teams?

LSU is one of the top jobs in the country. I think they could steal most teams' coach.

At worse LSU could get charlie strong from Louisville. great recruiter and a defensive guy.
good young coach that also had a solid 1st year.

Patterson, Pellini, ect are just not very likely to leave their current gigs.

Patterson won't leave, frick no i don't want Pelini.

ook at Florida, every advantage in the world and they had to settle for a coordinator.

WHo was going to be Texas' HC, and has huge connections that helped him land an NFL OC.

We're going to be looking at a Troy Calhoon or a Gus Malzhan type hire if Miles leaves.

bullshite.

That wouldnt be up to LSU. That would be up to the new head coach. And if it were up to LSU then we would be geting a shitty head coach who wouldnt be allowed to make his own decisions about his staff.

The problem is people have been screaming for a better coach. These guys currently would not be an upgrade. Im sorry but i dont want to be looking for a new head coach in 4 years. No stability in the program.

FSU is a better job. it's a college football brand name, easier conference, talent rich state.

It is far too early to say Jimbo Fisher is not an upgrade over Les Miles. He has just had one year as head coach at FSU. He is a proven OC.

I keep hearing from y'all, "Patterson won't come." Why not? Money talks and LSU can pay him way more. Now, I keep hearing it's cuz he's invested in some oil dealings with TCU boosters...so? Can he be tossed out of the investment where contracts have been signed because he leaves TCU? Seriously doubt it. Offer him what Les gets and he'll come.

It's easy to hire a good coach, we just might not end up with some of these coaches listed that some of our insatiable fans want. And you're right, they'll be disappointed if we don't because in their mind, LSU is the football capitol of the world and every coach dreams every night about being the head coach at LSU. To them, Gruden and Gary Patterson would leave their wives and children behind to get to LSU.
