if it's not Fisher or Herman than it should be Coach O

so there are only two football coaches in all of America that were worthy of LSU's HC spot, other than our D-line coach???

Do you understand how completely and utterly stupid that sounds?

Texas has a recent track record of picking horrible head coaches. They had Muschamp as the coach in waiting and we all know Strong failed in his 3 years. For some reason it makes me feel better somehow that Herman might follow that recent trend for the Horns

5 million a year which would have been a hell of a lot more if he would have ended up here.

Orgeron isn't worth half of what he's getting paid. Now factor in that LSU had to give Aranda a raise to "lock him up". Would LSU have to do that if we hired Fisher or Herman? LSU now has to go pay 1.5 to 2M for a OC. Would LSU have to do that if Fisher or Herman were hired? The answer is no. Aranda probably wasn't going anywhere this year anyway. But he needed a raise to compensate for the shortcomings or our head coach. Same with the OC.

sure the differences don't amount to the difference b/t O and Fisher. but it closes that gap.

Whatever they are paying O, he isn't worth that

Utterly ridiculous statement. It remains to be seen if O can leverage his past experiences and make a success of this opportunity. It also remains to be seen if Tom Herman can leverage his past experiences in the minor leagues and become a successful head coach at a P5 school.

I'm not saying that. What other names did you really hear? Fleck? Fedora? Fuente? Holgorsen? Gundy? Pretty much they were all considered 2nd tier with Coach O so why not just keep him.

It's not ridiculous. O has absolutely ZERO experience to prove he can manage and maintain a program beyond a couple months. I really like O, but he has no qualifications that make him fit for the full time job.

He has a much better track record than O. Herman didn't need to fail miserably like O to claim how much he learned from his mistakes.

Because it makes sense to go with the ones that didn't fail at their only attempt. I prefer the guy that doesn't have to preach about how he learned from his mistakes. Give me the guy that gets it right the first time.

We weren't getting Herman at $5 mill a year. We would have to beat Texas since he wanted Texas. Let's wait and see what happens at Texas before acting like we lost the golden goose.

Keep Aranda and a great OC and this team won't skip a beat and probably will get better.

This. Strong was as much as sure thing based on what he did at Louisville at that time. Herman hasn't really proved anything and Houston was a disappointment this year.

Strong was not at all a sure thing at Texas. There were many boosters there that did not want strong and they voiced their opinion about that out loud and made it difficult for strong to coach. Every booster is on board with Herman
