People do. It’s about optics and sometimes appearance. The HC @ lsu would need to look “professional”. That’s why Julio Jones cut his. “I’m a professional now.” People are judged on appearance. It’s human nature. Unfair, but that’s our world.
That being said, I wouldn’t be opposed. DC in the nfl means that he schemes and gameplans against the most sophisticated offenses and the best of best athletes. I just see lsu going with an offensive mind. This may be just a little bit too big of a job for his first HC gig.

Stupid argument. Part of the equation should include someone who is familiar with the culture and the state. Former players have said it. Talking heads have said it. Most fans have said it. So Kelvin would be more desirable than the “Wyoming coach.”

I’ve watched a press conference he had an I don’t think he is ready to be LSUs coach.

People who are strongly against Sheppard have no clue about who he is as a coach and a leader.
Unless you’ve played with him or were coached by him, stfu

The dreads aren’t great but honestly he would cost far less and has the potential to be great.

I don't hate it as much as I hated hiring Kelly, but I think it's probably too early for Sheppard.

There are plenty of good reasons why he should be considered, but does anyone know if he's even interested?

I don't think our fan base has the patience for the time needed for Sheppard. He does know the system here but no one actually knows his decision making process.

I agree. He would bring back some toughness back to program.

More reasons to make him wait at least a couple of years before hiring him. Now if he wants to be a defensive coordinator and assistant head coach here for 2-3 years ok.

No, it’s not a stupid argument. Perfect example of “hiring one of us” is Miami. 5 of last 6 coaches played or coached there previously.

If Shep had been a long time assistant in College / NFL and a top Coordinator, I get the argument for him…but he hasn’t been. In fact, the only thing he has is playing at LSU.

My question to all the Kelvin Sheppard supporters. If everything was the same, yet he played college ball at Wyoming…you still wanting him as LSU HC?

Yes I’d like him to have more of a tenure as a DC

but if he didn’t go to LSU, there would be no reason for an NFL DC to ever consider moving to college

Now more than ever you need a coach players want to play for. Kelly’s team quit on him and he is an arse, but I don’t think Kelly will be unique in losing morale with the portal the way it is.

It’s a risky hire. He has less than a season as a defensive coordinator and barely 5 years total in coaching. I’ll support him, but this is taking a huge chance on a largely unproven coach.
I think if the Kelly hire taught us anything, it's wiser to invest in people over pedigree.
