Here's the thing. You could hire either one of those guys as say "special teams coach" and nobody would say anything about it. However, if you hire them as a coordinator, there is going to be a little backlash.
Briles is going to get you some backlash from fans and a bit from the media.
Freeze is going to get you some backlash from the SEC, a little from some talking heads in the media, and a small amount from the fans.

Same information I have. Not happening. His name was highly mentioned and powers at be , higher than JA, would not entertain him at all.
I am an advocate for Briles, but LSU does not want fo be associated with the Baylor scandal. I fully understand with the reasoning behind it. Although I would take the risk, my tail is not on the line.
Lsu runs a clean program amd has avoided major scandals. I believe their are other names that could achieve the same results with far less baggage.
Random you may have a different perspective, Fill in any gaps I missed.
