What are he reasons Kiffin would be unsuccessful at LSU?
Basically if his personal issues cropped up again. I don’t think that’s gonna happen.
Beyond that he seems to understand the modern CFB landscape.
He unlikely to leave for an NFL job.
He’s unlikely to leave for a different CFB job.

This whole thing is interesting, I like Lane a lot as a coach, and I think he would be a great fit at LSU. That said, I have always thought the timelines did not match. How can Lane announce before the playoff? how can LSU wait until after the playoff?
So I havent viewed Lane as available. Similar to Lanning and Smart.
The longer this has lasted the more I thought maybe Kiffin is available and willing to leave. But with that, I have thought a coach willing to leave on the eve of a playoff run is the sign of a sh*tty person and one that I would be very skeptical of as a coach.
All of that said, my suspicion is that this is all about Lane getting more $ and more NIL $ at Ole Miss. Additionally, Lane seems to be an immature troller and I think he has loved trolling LSU and Florida.
Maybe he comes to LSU, I just don’t see it. And if he does, I think there are some huge red flags and LSU will be in the same position as Ole Miss in the future with Lane being Lane.

Eric Morris is not anywhere near the finished product that Kiffin is. I’m not arguing that. Your question was about upside. Eric Morris is at North Texas making 1.4 million a year. Lane is at the top of his game and just ready to break through to a championship level. I’d argue Morris has more upside because he is way down at the bottom and I can see him as a power 5 coach in 2-3 years time. That’s an incredible rise from Incarnate Word just a few years ago. He may not work out but his upside is very high.
