Exactly. LSU is a good job but so is Oklahoma. Even if it weren’t a lateral move, these swaps just don’t happen frequently.
Jimbo has skewed fan expectations but that was a unique situation with huge money.

Please everyone go look at who the schools who are so called Top 10 jobs hired in the recent pasts and where they came from
Elite P5 coaches don’t just up and leave for other P5 jobs

SMH.. There was nothing to leak. This Riley shite was cooked up on this message board. Nothing was coming from LSU and not one credible journalist was reporting on Riley because no one has a clue to what SW is doing.

Riley isn't a good coach
Not sure why anyone would be upset not getting him and hopefully he was never offered the job in the first place
I agree, posted 7 weeks ago when this started Riley coaches a soft football team. He can’t make a defensive adjustment (go rewatch the LSU semifinal) and his special teams are sloppy (KO return/muffed punt).
Watch Baylor and how physical they play; there’s very little of that in OU play.
Aranda can make adjustments on both sides of the ball on the fly. Don’t overthink this Woody, get his agent on the horn and give the man what he wants to come home. Recruiters are a dime a dozen and can be found; 130 plus IQs that relate to kids aren’t available often.

OP is so right. I don’t think some of our posters realize how the rest of the country sees the Deep South. Louisiana is not a garden spot for anyone truthfully. Educational and professional options are limited and the culture is a put off not an attraction to some. High profile executives are likely to take other options. And that’s what head coaches are now. Sorry guys.

Either way, the last two dopes were able to win championships here. That makes it a top destination. All one needs is a bit of acumen and LSU will take care of the rest. Wake us up when OU wins a natty this century. No, 2000 is not this century.

. You are what you’re record says you are. Maybe we’re a Les Miles, Ed Orgeron, Bill OBrien school
Les Miles was hired in a different era of LSU football. Even then, the feeling was that LSU could have hired a bigger name if they wanted to.
Ed Orgeron was settled on, and it seems like that’s what the AD wanted.
Where I think we are missing the boat is in trying to take guys from high level P5 programs. It’s not like other schools do that on a regular basis.
We also are over-valuing the “our last 3 coaches have won NCs” angle. An incoming coach could see that as a negative. I’ll leave you to figure out why.

Yep. If I were already making 8 million a year and someone offered me 12 million a year to move my family to BR, that would be a hard pass.

The facts do not agree...recruiting and titles speak for themselves.
Maybe these coaches arent as smart as we think.

That was not reading the tea leaves b/c Alleva is an idiot. Herman wanted UT and Alleva ignored that.

looking like we’re going to miss on every major target in this search (Riley, Tucked, Franklin).
Riley is a major target.
Tucker is a shitty target
Franklin may be a worse target than Tucker

Good thing Baylor President Livingston had a run in with Mulkey on the arena or moneybags offer of another massive raise would have backfired again.

The OU fans in here need to realize that they have never “pulled” a coach from a lateral job. Like ever.
Lincoln Ryliegh will regret this one day, and our next coach will probably slap OU around for Lincoln’s last few years at paperclip U

A lot of hubris from one of LSU’s whipping boy fan bases. Never forget 2003 and 2019.

Just read the melt from the OU fans after another disappointing performance from a Riley coached team. They want him to walk.
Riley is Not worth the price tag and he probably knows he can’t be mediocre as the highest paid coach in the country. He can stay at OU and continue his 2-3 loss years and the occasional 1st round playoff beat down.
Woodward’s boy Fisher hasn’t worked out. Just because you pay them top dollar doesn’t mean they are worth it.
