Mullen had more success at UF, worked at a more prestigious program, and chose MSU. I don't see why Malzahn wouldn't, especially with talent recruiting for the spread and the opportunity to send Nutt out of the SEC.

Miami switched to Mullen because Gruden told them he was the coach in waiting at LSU.

Urban Meyer was seen as the brains in that organization.
The Auburn / Malzahn situation is completely different.

Mullen sure has had a lot of Success at Mississippi State for him not to have anything to do with Florida's offense.

That's kind of true. Malzahn would be more comparable to Jimbo Fisher or Bo Pelini at LSU who was the head of his side of the ball. Chizic is a defensive guy and Malzahn is the head of the offense.
If I was a SEC team looking for a coach right now (which MSU may end up being) Malzahn would be at the top of my list.

You missed all of the threads before the Magnolia Bowl I guess.
Can we stop referring to the lsu/ole miss game as the magnolia bowl? That's the gayest shite ever. It's a division game in one of the toughest divisions in college football. That's the extent. Sometimes it's like we're trying too hard to manufacture a sense of something being more than it is.

I've NEVER met a LSU fan who considers Ole Miss their rival and biggest game of the year.
Me either. I dont even consider it a rivalry at all. Just another SEC game against a typical middle of the pack to bottom of the pack SEC West team. They may sneak up on you and beat you every once in awhile but they arent really ever winning shite.

You missed the point. True or not, Mullen was viewed as a protege of Meyer...not the brains behind the operation. Mullen was not as hot of a name for this reason.
The Malzahn situation is totally different. He is viewed as the cause of the Auburn turnaround...and is given more credit than Chizik himself.

Seriously do you think Auburn's success this is year is all Malzahn, and NOT CAM NEWTON???
If Auburn Didn't have Cam, they wouldn't have won 9 games. JMHO

Try to kep up. We are talking about the perception of potential head coaches. MSU is a stepping stone that Malzahn won't need to land a big job IMO. Mullen needed that stepping stone.

I see what you are saying, but back to my question to you.
How great would Malzahn have looked without Cam Newton playing QB for him???

Maybe someone should tell Miami to go after Malzahn then if he is that bad arse of a coach.

Why would Mullen? He could be up for the Georgia, Florida, or LSU job in a year or two.

Because he is in one of the biggest shitholes.
