3) Decimated as it was, and with not an over-abundance of talent, Davis did well to help the line actually improve as the season went by.

I wouldn’t say the line was good down the stretch, but they were definitely better than the beginning of the season. Or do you not remember the inability to run the ball vs McNeese or CMU?

Davis at least earned the opportunity to show what he can do with a full season and some guys that he brings in.

Did anyone watch the games the last season

Not only last season, but 2020 was about as bad as it gets. Now, that all can’t be laid at the feet of our dbs but still…….

Mike D doesn’t know shite
Typical case of the fear of change. "That's how we've always done it!"

Well we've been doing it wrong.

How many games just this year alone did the secondary give up massive yards and on top of rhat, were out of position and confused.

Corners haven't been awful, its the safety play. Too many talented kids to get in there and production just bad.

I was pondering this morning how CBK was going to evaluate the existing staff quickly. I suppose one way is to hire a third party evaluating crew to score the coaching, scheme, player participation, etc over the last couple seasons or their tenure... I have no idea if that is done but he could have already had that in hand when he got here.

Exactly, his inside info disappeared into a fishing hole with Ed and Ponamsky.

Mike started his own system of evaluating college talent back when he was in Jr. high. This was back in the mid 70's. He eventually became good enough at it to turn it into a side business that turned into a lucrative career. He might not be as big or well known as Kiper, but if you have followed him over the years, I think he has evaluated talent better than Kiper. Just my personal opinion.

But hiring a guy like Cooks to coach the secondary when he's failed in his last 2 on field DB coaching roles doesn't make sense.

This. Not sure why all the downvotes but if you’re bringing in the best coaches based on how their units preformed the past couple of seasons than the Cooks’ hire doesn’t make a ton of sense

Raymond melt stems from the fact that he recruited well. But the last couple on his watch up and quit on everyone. They can say they didn’t, but you can tell by the effort they gave on the field. ESPECIALLY Stingley.

Les Miles and Ed Orgeron were fired because of the trends in their leadership of the program.

Now look at Raymond’s trends with his recruiting and his elite DBs hurt and opting out or transferring.

No one said that Raymond wasn’t successful at his job at one point at LSU, but look at the direction the DB room has turned.

Well, some of us have been saying that since Bo when Raymond had control of the secondary. Jones stepped in this year. Bausch did before. Some of you only see recruiting…

That’s hard to interpret. A lot of time a CB in the wrong place makes the safety look bad while trying to get there instead.
