Wetzel has been an a-hole trying to paint coaches in a bad light for quite some time.

Note to Dan Wetzel

they only reason Ole Miss has a glimmering chance is because LSU and Florida are not hitting their usual 10 or 11 win seasons

Sure, I'd like to see Lane coach it out and leave the best way possible

but this is a cut throat business

It's all public, it is what it is...

an opportunity, it knocked this year like no other year

what to do?

that's on him

He wanted to stay through the playoffs. It would be Ole Miss that won’t let him.

I’ll qualify this by saying I’m not remotely a Kiffin apologist. The guy has had way more than his share of immature nonsense over the years. But these takes that fully lay this at Kiffin’s feet crack me up. How about someone crucify the NCAA for the calendar that ultimately creates this kind of thing.

All these media members who are railing against him would happily move on from their employers for a better gig, even if the timing was less than ideal, but somehow, Kiffin gets held to a higher standard. Yawn.

This assumes Lane is able to feel guilt or actually cares about what other people think

I won't lie. I want Kiffin to bounce and come to LSU. If I was Kiffin, I would stay at Ole Miss though. I couldn't bounce on my team, especially in the midst of the most successful season ever and on the brink of the playoff.

That said, if his team loses to Mississippi State, that loss to a bad team could knock Ole Miss down below Bama and they would again be on the outside looking in at the playoff.

Usual?

LSU has 13 since the SEC was created in 1933 and four in the past 10 seasons. Let's not act like you're something you're not. Ten win seasons are not the average, or anywhere close to that, really.

No way we let a rival's coach stay in our building nor would LSU do the same.

EDIT to comment again - it's asinine to even suggest we'd let a rival's coach lead our team. As a matter of fact, he would void his contract and be terminated for cause if he agreed to something with any other team.

What do you want the guy to do? Be forced to stay at a job he doesn’t want to stay at? A job where he doesn’t think he can fulfill his ceiling? No. But he still wanted to stay through the playoffs. Ole Miss would be the ones telling him no. So why is everyone mad for him bailing on the team?

He can decide to be Bianco or Bertman and Johnson. It's that simple 1 or many.

Davis said one of the reasons he fired Kiffin was because "Kiffin objected to drafting Jamarcus Russell and other personnel decisions."

Looks like Kiffin was right to object.

But, Kiffin was hoisted to levels he was not ready for when he was younger. There is not doubt about that.

He seems to have learned, grown and changed to a much better Head Coach.

Why is everyone mad at the guy bailing on his team just before they play their biggest rival (on the road) and go into the playoffs with a chance to win it all?

Why don't you read what you said again.

As much as people are glorifying this Ole Miss team, they have two, TWO, good teams they faced. They lost to one and beat the other with their QB still recovering from a messed up hand.

The LSU game was not a good win. They simply have benefitted from greatly rom their schedule turning out to be mediocre. They are a very good team, but claiming they are somehow generational when they are likely knocked out in the first round of the playoffs is ridiculous.

NO way he really believes this

Bill Frieder, a Michigan alum, didn't like Bo Schembecler. Thus, he agreed to move to Arizona St following the 1989 NCAA Tournament. Schembecler got pissed and fired Frieder right before the NCAA Tournament. Michigan went on to win the National Championship. Frieder went to ASU, did very little, then was forced to resign when news broke that his best player was point shaving. He never coached again and has been basically forgotten in college basketball except for the fact he chose to bail on the would be National Champions.

He doesn't regret leaving Michigan. But no matter what he says, he regrets putting himself in a spot where he wasn't allowed to coach his team that was obviously good enough to win a championship.

No. He denied there was an ultimatum.

Then he still may stay through the playoff. Nothing has been decided or said. But I think they did give an ultimatum.
