Ole Miss had a chance to be classy and take the high road. Instead they act like the wife being cheated on even though he explained he loved his girlfriend more and was leaving no matter what, but didn’t want to ruin Christmas for the kids. Ole Miss had several options and all were win win for both them and LSU. Ole Miss chose the ONLY option that makes them look like dickheads.

Whoever is in charge at Ole Miss is playing checkers with reactionary emotion instead of well thought out 3D Chess. No one ever sees the long game and in this situation the long game is the ONLY game worth playing.

Every word of this is 180 degrees wrong. It's an incredibly stupid take and it's unbelievable that any adult could be this hopelessly naive

This will probably be OM’s only chance ever at a championship, if I were in their shoes I absolutely would let him coach knowing I will likely never have the chance again

Again, the notion that there will be anything other than a toxic environment festering in that AD the next month if they let him stick around is simply retarded.

There is no chance in hell that team would be focused enough to win 1, let alone 4, playoff games. The second it’s public knowledge that Lane is headed to LSU, every single member of that football program’s mind instantly switches focus to their own personal futures and what their next moves might be.

I would guarantee my entire net worth that Coaches (and their intermediaries) from other schools have already started reaching out to gauge interest from their players. Coaches are already having their agents look around.

The only real path forward is Ole Miss getting their next guy (Golesh) in ASAP while the remainder of the staff coaches out the final month.

So we have reached the stage of coming out of the locked bathroom and reached irrational anger and lashing out.

Good times. Good times

Are they though?

Fulfill one request and none of this happens
Ole Miss isn't packing in 100,000 rabid fans with a request.

We’re not really talking about Lane here, we’re talking about telling the rest of the staff to GTFO too when they are on the verge of their first trip to the playoffs. I understand not letting Lane stay.

As an LSU fan, this is a great narrative for flipping current OM players and recruits. “Hey, we fought to coach you to a title, but Ole Miss cared more about their hurt feelings”

I thought the whole reason Lane wanted to go to LSU was to not have to deal with the mid talent available at Ole Miss

That’s not gasoline; that’s diesel.

I hope they don’t burn his house down when he leaves because it certainly sounds like some smooth brain may attempt just that.

It would seem like a better idea to offer the entire coaching staff (except Kiffin) a bonus to stay thru the playoffs. Make Weis the acting HC.

Who wouldn’t take an offer for a couple hundred grand extra to coach two more months.

If their whole offensive staff leaves, Joe Sloan, Brad Davis, and Alex Atkins are available. We will even throw in a lightly used ST coach.

Respectfully, I could not disagree more. But I’m glad there’s folks that think like you, I’ve made a comfortable living off of folks playing the short game.
