Would Charlie strong be a consideration?

I would have preferred Mason. Auburn played it smart.

Give me Barry Odom. He improved Arkansas yards per play by a considerable margin. This season he had 5.65 YPP at Arkansas, which is awesome. For reference ND under Chris Leak was 5.56.

I still like Leonard if we can possibly get him out of Whisky!

People will say he's at his school and all that stuff, but at this point I would try.

I wish LSU would just swing big at whoever is left now.

I'm so bummed about Freeman. I can't recall being as excited about a coaching hire only to have it not happen.

Leonhard would be exciting. The other possibilities may work out, but I am not sure I would be thrilled over them. Especially not to the level of excitement for Freeman.

So bummed today.

he’s my top choice too. I just don’t view it as realistic since he has so much money and is at his alma matter

I'm not familiar with Reeves, but is he a minority? The hire is going to be a minority, that's certain.

Hire the best available/willing to take it, period.

Arnett, Reeves, Odom. In that order. Either of the first two would be close to Freeman-level hires.

With shrimp boats track record he might easily get confused and hire Freeze for DC.

Look for a Google Coach much like the co-OC’s that no team in football was after.

True and they might turn out great but they don’t feel like home run hires or the “best coordinators” available. I hope they kick azz but it’s underwhelming. Defense is more important anyway. He badly needs the right guy there after Bo’s disaster. I don’t like O but I don’t want him to fail because that means we fail. I’ll dislike him all the way to victory after victory and be happy.

I've been out the loop, what happened to Bo Pelini? I know the defense wasn't #1 in the nation, but damn, did he even have his office set up how he likes it?

There’s plenty of talented young dc’s out there. I hope O doesn’t get desperate and feel cornered. He went after the hottest name in the country, and it didn’t go our way. You can’t force a man to come work for you. So be it. Get the next guy on the list(at least I hope there’s a list) And for the love of God don’t go and get a guy like Richard who’s been fired from his his last 2 jobs and is said to not be a fan of recruiting.

The more I look at your list, the more I think this should be the short list. I'd add Nielsen with the Saints as well.
