So i still don't get why coach o would deserve it over those guys.
Well CEO is 9-2 over his his last 11 games with 2 separate teams. Depending on how he finishes this season, he very well could EARN the job.
Using the overall record against coach O is like saying Miles is better than Harbaugh because of their overall records. It's not that simple.

I feel badly about this in some ways but you really just can't look at Orgeron as a top tier option when a good percentage of his success will depend on the quality of his OC and DC. I respect that he's a great recruiter. I love the Louisiana flavor. But those things are not enough to make him a preferred option. He isn't a great OC or DC level mind.
It would make more sense to make Aranda HC than Orgeron if LSU whiffs on Chip, Herman, Fisher types and the team excels this year - because Aranda is one of the best defensive minds in the country (and therefore much harder to replace).

Yes, we let him go for Jimbo or Chip, but not for O. In that scenario we have to make him HC, IMO. I think if Herman comes here, he stays as DC for at least another year.

Why do you think if the interim title is taken off Coach O that Aranda will leave?

It's always good to ensure that a HC is also a good coordinator so you can avoid this issue. Long term wise.

How much of the shine is off his star at this point?
A lot to me. And I have never been on the hire Orgeron train either. But Houston has laid 3 straight turds. 1 or 2 in a season is expected, but 3 in a row? Yikes.

Herman is basically Urban Meyers.
No NFL experience at all.
Very College system.
I don't get the "Herman is going to the NFL" talk.

Yes. Herman is a sure-thing in my book. Brilliant coach, good motivator, loves to recruit AND knows the area. Every coach has lost a game at some point, but that doesn't over shadow the extremely impressive wins he's got against FSU and OU. He still has louisville coming up in houston BTW, so he's got one more shot at beating a top 10 team.

I love chip, like Herman and like O not a fan of fisher but if gets the job will root for him. I've seen enough of a turn around under O after tonight to be completely fine with keeping him and you know he recruits. It's amazing how much better the offense looks right now. It's almost as if they are setting things up I know that's a crazy idea but seems to be working
This is pretty much my stance. I'm no huge Chip Kelly fan, but I like him. I also like Herman and O. I'm also not a huge Fisher fan. Fisher hasn't done enough at FSU to get my attention. Ditto for Herman and O. IMO- they're pretty much ALL in the same boat.
BTW- If you're still using O's VERY FIRST HC stint as an excuse not to hire him, you're being shallow-minded. Also, assuming someone will continue to make the same mistakes over and over regardless of the outcome is almost as insane as the act, itself. I realize Miles was the exception to this, but people can and do learn from their mistakes and make adjustments to improve. O has already said as much. He had some bad years as a new HC @ Ole Miss. He's learned from his mistakes and has taken (the good of) what he's learned from successful coaches and applied it to his own style, as he's talked about in past pressers. The only proof of his success that we have to judge by is his brief stint at SC and the few games this year. But so far, so good.
IMO it's Saban first, then a sh*t load of other good coaches. I'm not going to waste my time (or yours) naming all of them off. Just take your pick out of a number of coaches that have a history of turning bad programs around. There are quite a few.
In a nutshell, I'd rather wait and see how successful O is and go from there. Herman is unproven and Fisher isn't a Godsend. Regardless, I'll support whoever we hire. I really hope O is the second coming of Saban. At least we know when he makes mistakes, he learns his lesson and makes adjustments until he gets it right.

I still want Herman and none of this has changed it
That team has been through a lot. Finding out they aren't going to the big 12, not going to play for a NC and knowing your coach is all but gone. I completely understand

I'm all for Herman but I always try to keep an open mind. Coach O is most people's sentimental favorite for obvious reasons and I understand that completely. We would all love a Louisiana native being our coach. Especially after Miles tenure. We have to be careful to get the best we can afford. There are no sure things in life. If we make a bad hire here, it will impact us for 5-10 years afterward. Very serious choice needs to be made with careful consideration. Emotions about a local guy have no place in the mix other than the recruiting aspect (which is substantial).

Herman has pledged that if given LSU HC job he will no longer kiss his players due to to much confusion. He has vowed to give HJ's when they prance off the team bus.
Posted on 10/23/16 at 3:26 pm to Dudebro2
could someone explain the kissing situation? Does he really kiss every player on the team before every game or is this just a myth? If so, how does it happen? do the players stand in line and wait to be kissed? does he kiss them twice, once on each cheek, Italian style or maybe on top of the head like a father kissing a young son? I just can't picture this thing.
It's not a deal breaker or anything, just seems odd. If it works for him and his team and helps show a family like atmosphere or something like that then its all good.
