It'd be a great hire for USM and as of now, that's what I think is going to happen

Imagine as a player, and assistant coaches, prepping for a conference championship game and looming the entire week is that your head coach is leaving for elsewhere.

Our program dealt with it in 2021, but everyone knew Napier wasn't hanging around at that point, and he was going to an SEC program. This one is Huff just crossing from the Fun Belt East Division to the Fun Belt West Division.

Ouch.

Though from what I understand, Marshall fans as a whole won't exactly be sad. Just seems weird with the team being 9-3, possibly 10-3 if they beat the Cajuns in Lafayette Saturday.

Grew up there, 100% yes. I think about moving back fairly often

Happened with Tulane last year. Team fell apart.

Correct. Between that and Fritz making a lazy hire at OC I'm shocked they won as much as they did last year.

Over Huntington, WV? Yeah... lil bit of an improvement there

Hattiesburg is a quintessential southern Small town with a college in the middle. It has about 50-60K with all of the stores restaurants etc that a family needs and is only an hour from Biloxi, hour and a half from NOLA and 2.5 from gulf shores.

Very underrated area

USM boards are saying Huff will be announced after Saturday. Huge pull for USM if they can get him

The Problem is that the kids that USM used to get from these areas now choose Troy, South Alabama, Tulane, Louisiana Lafayette or Jackson State over Southern Miss.

This… Southern Miss used to be in the CUSA with teams like Louisville, Houston, TCU, Cincinnati and SMU and never got to move up when those teams did

Huff is putting together a nice career as a head coach. I watched his team against Ohio State this season and they were impressive even though they were overmatched.

It sure could be. If there's one thing that scares me, it's this: if you thought Marshall fans would penalize you for candidly speaking your mind, well, brace yourself for USM fans.

Regardless, if this pans out, and USM's administration doesn't get wrong-footed for the 11,714th time, it at least shows that someone, somewhere, sometime is still serious about USM football.

Next priority has to be an indoor practice facility. "Make a Bubble."

May need to expand the Brett Favre Memorial Volleyball Facility.

At this point, USM fans just want consistency. They were fed up with Hall spewing bullshite about “building it back the right way”
