In your opinion, how close is this deal? Almost done? And what is the biggest hurdle from it bein completed? Saints, TN, or Les just doesn't think he's the right fit?

what % are you putting on chavis as the guy right now? anything lower than 50% leaves me lots of hope for walker

does Belowpar have good info BigJ?

then my guess for the backup is Coach Haley from the Chicago Bears as the D-Line Coach.
i like this as well.

Orgeron is closer to a deal than Chavis.
This suggests that neither is all that close, because why would Les hire one of his DC's key guys without having the DC locked in and bought into the hire?

Quite frankily, O is somebody you get. Period. The DC can pick the other guys. And Belowpar isn't offering a suggestion. If he's talking about it, then things are in the works.

because that decision doesn't rest solely on the DC.
pretty sure the D staff was in place before Bo came on aboard

if we miss out on O, then big deal...go get jeffcoat and his son

I appreciate that. His statement the O is closer than Chavis just suggested to me that putting the final touches on O might await getting his boss in the door. But maybe not. If I'm Les, I want to at least know that the DC isn't going to be bitching about his key subordinate being imposed on him with no consultation. But as I've said, I could be (probably am) all wrong about this.

or we could get O and Jeffcoat's son ehhhhh?
Posted on 12/18/08 at 4:30 pm to nycajun
DC having a say would probably be the way some go about it, but not under Miles. He brought Mallory w/ him to LSU, and hired Dunbar, which was a great pick even though he and Bo didn't get along

What's wrong with getting a DC that wants a HC gig? Miles can use that as a major selling point to attract the best coordinators.
The reason you might not want a DC who's only going to be here for a short while is because there is a cost to implementing a new scheme/system.
There is a learning curve that you don't want to take on frequently if you can help it.
I'm not suggesting you stay away from coaches because they are HC material down the road...but don't ignore the cost associated with that.

sign me up on Jeffcoat for what its worth, but don't think its happening...
If orgeron comes on board, he will be D-Line, Asst Coach and Recruiting coordinator...So you tell me the chain of command with Coach O and the DC...I don't know how that would work to be honest..

i can confirm walker has been contacted. contrary to what has previously been reported.
les will provide the names of the top candidates as soon as d.m. and b.d.p. announcements are made. b.d.p. didn't get in until late last night, general consensus is that he will get the job at northwest, waiting on the demons to make the decision if it's him or another candidate.
no decision has been made but several d.c.'s and O have been contacted. the names will be coming soon.
that's all i got.

Jeffcoat seems like a guy who's well off and a texas guy all the way. I didn't think it was likely

Reading between lines, is this suggesting Orgeron might take the DC position?

No reading between the lines, if Orgeron comes its for the 3 positions I've already said...DC will be someone else unless something drastic happens.
