What timeline do you think Lane signs. I really think Friday it all comes out. For whatever reason he is hell bent on coaching last regular season game.

He could have gotten it from anyone who knows the specifics of the deal, which could be LSU, Sexton, Ole Miss, or Florida. These are all people who would know this info because of obvious reasons. Honestly it makes more sense for Ole Miss to leak it than LSU.

It doesn't matter. LSU is willing to go all-in. At the end of the day, if Lane chooses to go somewhere else, it won't be because of money for him or NIL. LSU will be right there until the end, so if it doesn't work out, it's not because of anything LSU did.

This is faulty logic. Kiffin gets this deal BECAUSE of what Kirby makes. No coach is taking a tier 1 job for lower. If Kirby were on the market, he’d beat it. It likely forces Georgia to give him a raise after all the coaching changes are made. It’s like the NFL QBs that break the “record” every year. Mahomes is like 10th on the highest paid QB’s at this point.

This is just my speculation:
I know Saban smoke was real. I believe he was mulling it over, and that is why he told Lane to stay where he was. I’m sure LSU told him Lane was the next call, if Saban declined.
I believe Saban called Sexton, and both of them said this was the right spot for what he wants to accomplish. UF is a better spot to win than OM, but LSU is better than both, and Saban did us a solid. He consulted with Lane and said Sexton will get you the deal you want, and LSU will get you the results you want.
This is, in my opinion, why Saban was on an island today. He spoke for Lane. He knows this is where he belongs if he wants to build a power quickly. No FSU, no UM, no UGA and Gumps dipping into the panhandle, not to mention LSU.
Lock down Louisiana, dip into the gulf coast and east Texas, and you have a team that can compete. NIL becomes a power up instead of the only card to play.
Sure, there are kids that grow up wanting to be a gator or a rebel, but look at what Louisiana produces and the competition for that talent. Other programs have to really sell themselves, and throw in cash. It’s just not the same in other places.
Besides, LSU boosters and Louisiana as a whole are nuts. We will do virtually anything, and put up with a lot of shite if you win.
