5-15 with Oakland
7-6 with UT

Congrats

There's a reason why Sark, Rilly and Del Rio said no = Sanctions.

Clearly you are using the word staff as a euphamism for a penis...

Sark would have been much better choice.

This is a big roll of the dice in my opinion.

Word leaks out. High level folks at universities are often aware of pending sactions, maybe not what they will be. I don't think USC would bring in such a staff, especially Kiffen, and spend that kind of money if they believed sanctions were looming. But who knows?

I respectfully disagree. USC football is still a big-time business, and needs to keep that cash-flow going. The USC Athletic Dept realizes that they didn't make a huge hire, so they wanted to excite the fanbase by bringing back most of the past ingridients that gave yall success plus Monte Kiffen. This staff will keep most of the fanbase excited thus buying season tix, merchandise, etc.

Even if they know NCAA is looming, you still want to make as much as you can and put together the best staff possible that will help you weather the storm.

There has to be a reason behind it.

I mean seriously, he absolutely sucks as a coach.

Did they just not want to waste a good hire when they know they are out on their asses soon? I think this is it.

Or did they just enjoy the lack of pressure of playing in a December bowl?

IMO, if they belived sanctions were coming, having Kiffen aboard certainly would not give the image of trying to clean things up.

I believe the hire was as much, if not more, about the new staff, than Kiffen

another point of view that is rational and makes sense as well. I've thought about that one too, but went with the more optimistic one.

Honestly, in all seriousness, why is this even remotely a positive move.

Monte is not able to translate his success at Tampa to the college rank.

O is a liability of the highest order.

And Chow has not really duplicated the success he had at USC. Success with a group of the most gifted athletes just about ever assembled at the college ranks.

I would be absolutely horrified at this hire if I was a USC fan.

so hiring kiffin indicates this because he's been so notoriously dirty at UT that USC wouldn't dare hire him unless they were free and clear from the NCAA or because you don't think you could make this impressive of a hire if sanctions were known to be on the horizon? again serious question.

ETA: you should also learn to spell his name; he's going to be your head coach for the next year and a half.

Hell... Chow is the only part of this menagerie that USC fans should be happy with...
