they always play shite schools in BCS games. usually from the big east

this is true.

Are Orange Bowls against Kansas a valid indicator of VT's national appeal?

Maybe look at some of their Thursday night games

adding fsu gets you what, the panhandle?
I keep saying this, but FSU gets you AMERICA. UF/FSU will be an SEC game, and almost every SEC game they play will be a game of interest. They have a national following.

ESPN goes with the PAC-10 and 70% of the country is sleeping durring any night game.

Right. But I think one of the points from the anti-SEC expansion crowd is that outside of UT-Austin, there aren't "big" markets to add. Which is probably a valid argument.

Mizzou having St. Louis and KC is probably a better grab than VT financially. Maybe even better than FSU.

One angle to look at would be if Pac-16 starts it;s own network ala Big 10.

If so ESPN/CBS may get worried and pony up more to lock up premier programs with shitty markets like VT just like they overpaid the SEC to avoid SEC making their own channel

A&M brings you more of the Houston, Dallas, and SA markets.

wouldn't mind it

TAMU is capable of getting things rolling. Also great stadium and atmosphere at Kyle Field

VT has been a solid program for years under Beamer, and Lane Stadium is also a very good atmosphere.

Yeah, the appeal of Missouri would be the two cities. No other school really gets that, and I definitely don't think of Virginia Tech when I think of DC. Maybe UVA or Maryland, but not Tech.

A&M has an enormous alumni base too. That won't hurt your TV market.

i've always heard the boosters and fans are ''too nice'' in regards to coaches and expectations.

Therefore, adding teams isn't necessarily a bad thing financially.

Especially when they're in geographical markets larger than any market in the current SEC.

Well, U of M is inside the Beltway, but VT's got a huge following in DC. The majority of the Post's college football coverage is of the Hokies.

Why can't Texas and Texas A&M still play their rivalry game like Florida and FSU do? Why do they have to be in the same conference?
