Quit worrying about losing recruits to out of state schools. A fence is coming.

Frank Wilson was brought back to re-build the fence. He cant do that in just a couple of weeks. Next years recruiting cycle will be much different. Just be patient guys. A new foundation is being built.

This may be true but that fence was starting to rot. Going 6-6 was going to cause that to come down. So yeah, going 15-0 and having the greatest team all time helped put that fence up. But it was coming down fast.

The fence isn't going back up. Not enough big money boosters to keep up in. NIL taking over.

The problem was that Ed O thought he had to keep them inside the fence even when the games started (i.e. - not blitzing at all until he was canned).

O's fence was fine in recruiting but he lacked development in both skill and culture. Recruiting matters very little if the guys coming in don't get better and/or leave. I'm not putting that all on O but I'm also not giddy about his fence.

I think this is probably true until things shake out with regulations. Transfer portal will even things out though. Will dramatically increase the number of quality players available in each cycle. Coaches will be able to rebuild rosters quickly and losing a few more elite recruits won’t hurt as much if you have a strong talent evaluation team for transfers as well as high schoolers.
