Trade Deadline will be telling

If we don't make a trade, it's all but certain Zion won't play this year. No way Griff sits on his hands when it is possible Zion returns. The trade deadline will be more informative on the doughboy's weight/injury status than any confusing half positive/half negative report Griffin puts out to the media.
The way we've been resting players also bodes poorly. Been more than six weeks too, as discussed... can't be good.

I trust Griff will make a great trade as much as I trust Sean Payton not coaching the Cowboys.

I'd be surprised if the Pels made no trades. At the very least I'd expect something like getting paid to help another team save money or dumping Didi to get Jose a full contract.

Zion will not be a part of the deadline equation. We should know that very very soon

I feel like no trade will happen and then as soon as ASW is over and gone, there will be reports that Pelicans and Team X were in "serious discussions" so it makes it seem like we tried lol

I could see that happening all around the league to be honest. I see a lack of sellers in the market & an overabundance of teams overvaluing their assets.
Bright side is if that happens it all but guarantees we keep a lotto pick this year(higher value one at that) that we can use to make a more attractive offer this offseason.

i feel ripped off how Zion is 100% unavailable.
it makes me feel he is never wearing pelicans uni again. this is based entirely on no facts. eeyore.
i cant imagine how this bodes well.
one thing in the report i didnt like was that the repair could not bear his weight. so a wheel chair and swimming. id like a report. now he can walk.
or.. he swims a mile at a time 3x week. he can do a 20 minute mile 3 miles.
some of that.

I'm fine with us sitting on what ever have and waiting for the summer. We have some emerging young guys and I don't want to mess with their progress. We can reasses and make a new plan.
If Zion doesn't play, I'm OK with moving on from him. We have good forwards in Jones/Ingram and we would get a nice return for him. It's not the end of the world..

Of course you are.

Not sure what that means. I have always been a huge supporter of his. But I am starting to sour on him and would be alright for a future without him. I want a star that is bought in. He just isnt for whatever reason..

Zion isn’t a star player?

lack of sellers
Most frustrating product of the play-in game. We'd still be buyers because our generational talent may come back but hapless teams with worse front offices *cough* *cough* kings, are unwilling to make trades because theyve deluded themselves into believing their roster is competitive.
The suns and hawks making deep runs last year don't help the bottom dwelling delusion either.

Interesting comment re moving Didi to give Alvarez a full contract.
I see us participating in smaller ways, IE...I would try to move Satoransky for draft capital - as long as it means taking no long term bad contracts.
Would consider letting Josh go for a younger playyer(s)/draft picks.
In the case of Sato, and even Josh, wouldn't surprise me if Chicago were a willing buyer. They know Sato, and have injury concerns he can assist with over the short term.
Appreciate all your feedback - have a great day !

i would try for a pick swap.
their apparently late 1st for pels apparently mid round 2nd and sato.
sato has no value in my view. miracle if you can snooker them out of anything worth spit.
