Just booked for SLC in a couple weeks for ski trip to park city. I’ve never used the Emerald Aisle before. Is it as easy and cool as it sounds ?

Extremely easy. I’ll choose National every time over the competition. You check-in and an agent walks you to a row of cars and tells you to pick whatever you want. I like the freedom to choose what I drive vs. being told.

Nice. I didn’t even realize I had to check in. Only used national once but not the emerald aisle. Seemed like the way to go for a kinda short trip. Rental car lines have been insane on some of my more recent trips.

The Emerald Isle at SLC is always stocked with mid size SUVs (Rav 4 type). Very easy in and out. The walk from your terminal to baggage claim will take longer than getting out with your car

Awesome thanks . That’s good to hear. I have had some nightmare car rentals on trips in the last couple years. I’ve never been to park city before and really looking forward to it.

Our new parent company has a corporate program with them and I've used it a few times. So far, so good. I love not checking in. Tell me wtf takes 25 minutes to check in at Enterprise??? And some days they ask for your second photo ID and your insurance provider.

I hate when companies try to make things harder. Especially when you consider Enterprise and National are the same!

I've never checked in. Just pick a car, then drive through the kiosk and give them your DL.

Exactly. You don’t need to check in. Or speak to anyone. Just grab a car and go. They check you out when you leave.

Is this how it works for everyone, or do you have to be some sort of emerald member or something.

If they offer the Aisle its great, when other airports do not offer or have the Aisle service, it can suck just like every other car rental company. For those that do not travel all over the country, not every National has the Aisle service. I can name about 6 airports that do not offer that service.

SLC and DEN during Ski Season don't expect any large SUV's or 4x4's unless you specifically reserve that class. I was there in December and the best thing on the Executive aisle was a FWD Mini Countryman

Aisle service

It had the midsize selection all lit up on their website with “emerald aisle” so I assume I did right. I shy away from national sometimes bc I’m cheap but I also value my time and just jumping in a car and rolling out sounds fantastic. Lol

Thanks for the replies

SLC is kinda different as the National franchise there was locally owned and operated...Car selection wasn't like ATL or another major airport. SLC is kinda a pain in the arse....I worked out of the SLC area so I rented a lot but that was 3 years ago maybe with the expansion its better.

Yes it’s easy but the SLC one isn’t as easy as others. Others you literally walk out and get in a car and go.. check out at the exit. SLC with emerald you have to go outside to a different emerald booth, check out then get a car. Little more work IMO

With the new airport opened, I just hopped in a car and went to the booth like any other aisle location.

I’m an Emerald Club member. Just make your reservation, pick out a car on the Emerald Aisle when you arrive, and check out with the person at the gate when you leave. Pretty easy.
