IF the Saints do win the Watson sweepstakes

prepare yourselves for the full range of emotions from
national and local media, politicians, and fans who will be wringing their hands over his "reputation"!
The Advocate editorial will denounce the trade immediately!
The Saints will quickly become the most hated team in the NFL until Watson excels on the field during the season!
Loomis, Dennis Allen, and Gayle are taking a huge gamble that can payoff handsomely.....but can also destroy your legacy!
Good luck Saints! Love my team!!!

I wont lie, i am conflicted … downvote away, but i remember when the Saints signed Brees, i was all in, even before he was “DREW BREES”…. This has a totally different feel, and i just dont know what will come out in the future, legally speaking.. HOWEVER i am trying to balance this out with the fact that i eventually accepted Jameis, even with all his legal baggage .. AND i also realize that Deshaun is by far the absolute best young QB we could ever hope to land, realistically speaking (not including guys like Mahomes, J Allen, Burrow et al which arent realistic).. so i am trying, just not quite there yet .

Winning will help your feelings

It's gonna be brutal no matter where he goes. I imagine Coke is lighting a candle praying he doesn't come to Atlanta because people are going to troll the shite out of them asking why they were up in arms about a voting bill but not an accussed sexual assaulter coming to town to headline the local sports franchise.

We already have been by the media for years now. Most fans like us though

What’s taking this dude so long?

For the record.

So long ? I dont think there was even much of a peep about Watson to NOLA one week ago.. this decision will change the course of this dude’s life, for better or worse, for the rest of his life.. also, i dont think it’s overdramatizing it to say that his decision could chnge the course of more than one multi-billion dollar franchise, better or worse, for years to come.. give it a little time.. i realize the NFL doesnt leave room for much time, but just a *little* .

I think the Trade is a bad move by the saints if they do it. However, if he was coming to the saints as a FA I would be for bringing Watson in.
DW is hurting the team he will actually end up with because of the price the Texans are demanding. Watson should put more pressure on the Texans to let him go for less because he does still hold all the cards. He is damaged goods in Houston so his value is no where near his potential. At most he is worth no more than one first round pick and a player. Nothing more!

Regarding Watson and morality:
Read my lips - I could not care less.
I gave up on NFL players being my role models back in the early 1980’s, when I wasn’t even a teenager. Even then, I knew only one thing mattered in the NFL: winning. That’s it.
The Saints and other teams have had good people on the team who were not great players. They were cut and run out of the league without mercy for being mediocre. The names Weurffel and Tebow come immediately to mind. There are others.
The NFL has shown over and over that it tolerates the worst characters and celebrates them, if they are simply good enough to make you forget them (Michael Vick, anyone?) and unlike Michael Vick, Watson was not convicted of a crime. He hasn’t even been charged.
Faux outrage over Watson will not move the needle on me one bit. And that’s all it will be: false, illegitimate morality projection.

quote:I agree. To me they're just race horses. Anyone that looks to professional sports for role models regarding morality is lost as a human being.

Wasn’t a problem for the Steelers and Big Ben over a decade ago

Aaron Rogers has been hated for years. Some people will hate Watson, just like some hate Roethlisberger and Jameis.
Ain't got **** to do with me, though...
