832#..... Nice

Thanks for sharing.

I'll never land one of those because I'll never be rigged up for it.

Always thought that was funny. You’ll see a picture of a giant tuna or marlin caught “out of Florida” with a giant floater in the background.

Article says they were fishing 160 from Destin so you know they were probably in the area of the old Independence Hub. I know several BFT have been caught in that are in years past. Anybody recognize the rig in the background?

Let’s see. Good fat in the Minors. Decent fat in the Majors but it doesn’t carry all
the way out. Not real oily but good core.

I can give you 16 bucks a pound.

They are illegal to target.... But you are allowed to harvest one a year. Sometimes people "accidentally" catch one while fishing for yellowfin tuna.

Both apply to Blue Fin!! I've never seen a picture of a small one.

BFT- Blue Fin
YFT - Yeller Fin

I was thinking thunderhawk, can’t tell what color it is. Blind faith is kinda shaped like that too.

I always wonder how much meat isn’t good bc of the fish baking on the deck. There’s a reason those bluefin tuna fisherman cut the head off, gut it and pack it with ice

Yeah either thunder hawk or blind faith hard to tell from the op pic,,, here is a pic from several years ago I think they had caught 3 that year and blind faith is in the background.
I think thunderhawk has bigger cranes than BF

You can gut and Pack it. Or hose it down to keep it from baking.

There should not be too much waste.
